Coronavirus

In RI, we are not far east of NYC, Ct. in between. Guess I had good reason, when this all broke, to feel that we were between a rock and hard place, NYC on one side, Boston on the other.

Effective last night: our governor is stationing state police where Interstate 95 enters RI, from Ct. All private vehicles with NY plates will be stopped, and occupants told that if they plan on remaining in RI, they must self quarantine for 14 days, and state their RI address. The RI National Guard will be stationed at all train stations and interstate bus stations, for the same purpose. Apparently, New Yorkers are traveling here to their summer homes. Truckers are the exception, as they are traveling through, in support of interstate commerce, and some are carrying medical supplies.

And the state will take it a step further. National Guard troops will go door to door in summer communities where New Yorkers own cottages, or more substantial homes, identifying New Yorkers, informing them of the 14 day self quarantine requirement. Police stationed at roads entering Westetly, RI, our SW corner town, on the Atlantic, bordering Ct. This town, and Charleston, RI, next town east, have a lot of summer cottages on or near the ocean. Residents are concerned, since these normally summer residents are using local markets once they are here, that they will bring the virus into our Atlantic coastal communities. So Democrat Gina Raimondo is our governor, and now I'm just hearing about this latest proactive step to identify New Yorkers arriving early, no doubt to escape the epicenter in New York. I'm guessing police are stationed at any secondary roads entering RI, from Ct., as well.

"Rhode Island Police to hunt down any New Yorkers seeking refuge":

Well, that is one way to put it. It is interesting, the ACLU is not pleased, not unexpected I would say, but RI has the right not to become a new hot zone. Easy for me to say, I live here, but I don't blame people for fleeing NY.

So after the whole primary process, you'd insert Cuomo? No Buttigieg, no Warren, etc.?

I have been that impressed. He's on every morning here, CNN, probably MSNBC. Listening to this guy is inspirational, I mean this is the kind of leader men follow into battle. His speech to the National Guard today was everything you want to hear from a leader preparing his troops for a new kind of enemy.

His command of the response his state is taking, the depth of his understanding, compared to Trump, is really commanding. This is a born leader, and his compassion for people, well, in my eyes it puts Trump to shame. And that's important I think. The compassion, that is, and fighting for his people. Of course he's putting lives first, his state is getting pummeled, but his from the heart rhetoric in that regard, has convinced me he would be a great president from that perspective as well.

And boy do we need that in a president.

The wife and I listen to a born leader every day, and every day we say "why couldn't this man be our president?". He's in his prime, and I think he would easily win any debate with Trump. Neither of us saw this coming, but there ya have it.

Sanders would have to stay in, to somehow deny Biden the needed delegates leading into any convention, but, yeah, in a heartbeat.

Jesus. Luxembourg has 602,000 people. 1,605 cases of Covid.

That ratio of cases per person is nearly twice as bad as Italy’s.

So Gary's speech was a whole lotta nothing. I dont know what i expected.
Today Gov. Herbert issued a Shelter-in-Place suggestion.

"My fellow Utahns, if you feel like it please stay in your home as much as possible, unless you have an urgent need to do whatever you feel like doing."

As the number of affected people reached 100,000 it's still amazing to me how many people standing around, walking around and are not wearing masks.

Are those people you see walking around old? Because that is excessive if they are not old.

And if you dont live in an urban city, then even for a an old person it's not that big of a deal.
