What's new

Game Thread Jun 14, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz at Clippers - Game 4

Added to Calendar: 06-14-21

My prediction is that the official word becomes "game-time decision."

If they list him as that, he's definitely playing. But I think he's gonna be out.
Agree if he is game time decision that he plays... its a mind **** for us if he doesn't... its a mind **** for them if he does. Keep em guessing.

Although our training staff is likely out after this year... so maybe the sabotage us again.

My bet is Conley is out tonight.

I would take any win no matter how ugly - W's are all that counts. Bad thing is whomever comes out of the rest will get no breather before taking on PHX.

According to MTJK, the winner of our series should have the advantage because they don’t know who they’re getting so that’s cool

Not sure how sure they are about having him for game 5 but if DM is hurt I'm not sure it is smart to ask him to do what he did last game. He can't beat two defenders at the top. I think maybe the strategy is start him out in major decoy mode... accept the double team and have the other guys be really aggressive. See how they are shooting and adjust from there.

Worst case scenario is we burn DM up in a loss that was a long shot... then we get Mike back but DM ain't ready.

We need 30 point Bojan... we need some help with the refs... we need the clips to have a **** the bed performance from 3. I'm legit sad right now.

It's clear his injury is worse than many believed.
I think they are just following the conservative protocol. Likely looking at the long term playoffs and not just this one series... might be a classic case of "long-sighted, short-sightedness."

No. Your worst case scenario should include not getting Mike back because that's the likely thing here. We need to stop pretending this is some minor injury and the Jazz is holding him out solely to be uber safe. Sorry, but I think that ship has sailed. It's clear there is more to it than that and it's likely what is holding him back won't just magically correct itself by Wednesday.

I'm at the point where I expect Conley is done. If we see him, it'll be because the Jazz somehow won two more games to advance. But that's the earliest we'll see him.

It is pretty amazing to go from "day to day" with the original injury to being listed as "questionable," which means you're more likely to play than not, for every game thereafter.

Na. I think we're reading too much into it. It's clear as day the Clippers have figured the Jazz out without Conley. It's clear as day Mitchell can't carry the load fully himself without getting worn down significantly. Those are two things clear to everyone. If the Jazz still think they're safe holding Conley back, they're full-on dumb. And after the whole misshap with Mitchell, I'm really skeptical they'd play this game again.

So, the obvious answer is he's not in good enough shape to even play just a serviceable role.

He's not playing in this series, I'm afraid.

I don't think it is this clear with the Mike injury. I think he was/is close but they still don't think its worth it to chance it. I don't think they are just looking at this series... otherwise you would rush him back. I think they are hoping he is good for the whole playoff run.

I'm open to him not being good enough to play though... i think its different shades of gray here.

I hope that isn't the case or we've got some really dumb people running things. I really am struggling to believe, after the whole Mitchell issue, they'd pull the same stunt. That's some monumental stupidity right there. Like, a level of stupidity that I don't think I've ever experienced as a Jazz fan. So damn monumental that my mind is struggling to process just how stupid they'd have to be to do something like that.

And that's why I believe it's worse than they're letting on because it's remarkably ****ing dumb to keep Conley out knowing it's doing damage to Mitchell, our star player.

If the Jazz are just doing this out of precaution against one of the most talented rosters I've ever seen and that load managed, sleep-walked, and tanked their way to the 4th seed in the Western Conference and now seems focused, then they are buffoons.

If this goes home tied up, I could see this ending in 6 in the bad way.
