Agreed. I stated my basic ideas of how to fix it.What does "fix" the border mean?
Stop immigrants from coming here?
Stop refugees from requesting asylum?
Streamline the immigration process? Issue out more worker visas?
Militarize more/Demilitarize the border?
Build a wall?
Something else???
I think we need to agree first what it means when people say, "fix the border" since that can mean one thing to one person and something completely different to another.
Wow, these immigrants can only be forced to work in agriculture and service industries, or be apart of the sex trade? Maybe you're a bit racist here. Also, weren't Republicans just bitching like 5 mins ago about human trafficking and the long wait times in the service industry and the high cost of food?
You consider bussing immigrants to other places in the US, human trafficking. How can one be concerned with human trafficking and not be appalled by what Abbott and DeSantis are doing?
“the unlawful act of transporting or coercing people in order to benefit from their work or service, typically in the form of forced labor or sexual exploitation”
Neither of these things are happening.
We want worker shortage right now due to inflation. When we have inflation, a method to combat it is for higher wages. If we have a huge pool of workers to choose from then business can keep wages low. Even right now our nations wage growth is raising at lower rate than inflation, which means most Americans are making less money now then from a year ago. Worker shortage gives workers an opportunity to negotiate better wages. So yes we want to discourage immigrants from coming here. How can one be angry about the worker shortage our country currently has but also discourage refugees and immigrants from coming here?
Rapid Wage Growth Keeps Pressure on U.S. Inflation
Pay increases have exceeded an annual 5% every month this year as companies vie for workers in tight job market, a factor contributing to four-decade high U.S. inflation.
Why do you bring race into every topic. It’s not about their skin color. If Ukrainian's came here in millions, there would be the same issues.I hope we aren't letting white grievance lead our views here on "the border crisis."
