2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Of Hendricks, Wallace, and Black I actually think Hendricks is the safest pick. I just think any NBA team will be able to find minutes for a guy that can defend the rim and out to the perimeter, and also hit the 3. I don't really see the upside though as I really don't think he's ever high level at self creation or play making for others.

I think Black is the biggest risk /reward of the 3. He just does so many interesting things at his size he could be really special, but if he doesn't develop a shot he might not be playable.

Wallace does a lot of things great, but even the things he needs to improve on, he at least has a good base level to start off with. If he puts it all together he can be great, in my opinion, but even if he never puts it all together he should still be a pretty good player.

I really like all 3, but still would go with Wallace if we had the choice.

*If we don’t **** up the tank.
It's looking pretty safe right now. Chicago should win at least two more games and all the teams at 37 wins should win at least one more. That would mean we can still win 3 more games and be guaranteed at least a tie for 9th. We could still screw it up, but I think we'll get even more aggressive at worsening our odds of winning games.

Its truly time to shut it down. Washington winning tonight is a game changer if we lose out. Was plays the Bucks and they have wrapped up #1 and the Rockets the last night of the year. There is a slight crack open... sorry Lauri. Win one more and maybe you can tie the Wiz.

Mmm, Yeah I could see them winning two more. I think we win at least one more though, but tie for 8 is better than 9 for sure.

i've seen bronny a lot in real games. this was just more of the same but in an all star game so he got a lot of good looks and he's always been a capable shooter. all he did was shoot mostly open threes. to his credit he hit them, but he struggled to do anything off the bounce, he has trouble beating anybody off the dribble, his handle is shaky, he doesn't make plays for other people, can't get to the rim and his defense is questionable. high level d1 basketball will eat him alive. shoulda gone to OTE or g league.

I guess we will see.

I'm still pretty sure Wallace is going to be top 14 player in the draft, but Im starting to think Bufkin/Podz might be the two next best guards, not NSJ/JHS/George.

What IS he doing next year?

I think George has real promise, but I don’t get the love for JHS or NSJ and might agree with your premise with them. I would have a hard time choosing them in the first round.

Yeah, I think George could be good, I just don't like him for the Jazz. JHS is probably a better college player than NBA player, but I could see him as a rotation player at some point. I have never witnessed NSJ play well, so I really don't understand him going in the first round, but he's probably a much better player than I have witnessed.

I am just starting to dive into the draft prospects and the two players Anthony Black's game reminded me of were Kyle Anderson and Joe Ingles in that he is a connector on offense and a good defender with active hands. But I think he will be an upgraded version of those players (better athlete, better passer, better foul drawing, etc.). Although he will not be the shooter Ingles has become, I expect he will be better than Slow Mo and overall a reasonable threat.

I think Black's drive game will be similar to Ingles/Anderson in that it is based on straight line drives and change of pace (with very little wiggle) and he will do it with a pass-first mentality on the drive. That being said, he is a much more physical driver than either of those two comps and I think he will draw a lot of fouls on drives. Honestly, I think he has Jimmy Butler foul drawing potential (which is probably overly optimistic).

My favorite part of Black's game is his ability to pass for layups/dunks. He showed this from the midrange, from outside the arch, from under the basket, in transition, literally everywhere on the court. I think this is a much harder skill to learn than just passing from the paint to 3 pt shooters (he also showed that ability). That skill would be really valuable for this version of the Jazz because the current core players (Lauri, Kessler, maybe Oachi) are all play finishers but not creators. So having a floor general that can make passes puts them on another level.

Overall, Black is my favorite guard prospect for the Jazz in the 7-10 range. IMO he has all star potential (think prime Kyle Lowry) and he is very likely at least a good starter (think Fultz this year).
