The Official and Unfortunate R.I.P. Jazzfanz member thread

Stats only tell a small portion of the story and vslice clearly understand that overall game very well.
The problem is, without context the stats are completely meaningless. The stats in the boxscore, and even most advanced stats (win shares, PER and its components), do little to add the needed context. I lack understanding of the finer points, having never played real organized basketball or made an earnest study of basketball strategy/sets/plays, etc., and it's nice to have someone around to teach and correct my misunderstandings. Unfortunately, there are few people on this board who can provide, understand or appreciate the fine detail. I might have to find better hobbies (or a team with a more informed fanbase).

Harsh, but largely true. I had a hard time with the same when I first got here. I don't think there's a more basketball savvy fanbase than Kentucky's and the talk is technical and detailed. On the board I used to run, there was always AAU coaches, Scott van Pelt, sports radio guys, and even the occasional college coach dropping by for discussion.

I just more adapted to this site and what it is/has become. I've found I can write something detailed and long and no one responds.. so why waste time?

Anyway, even though you're a consistent smug *** in nearly every post, you're a definite favorite of mine and I would be severely disappointed if you ever quit posting.

6 months isn't long enough to be considered gone. You've gotten a lot of burn around here, though. I see you got your name back.. you going to post a little now or just teasing us?

You have been mentioned several times by various posters as a good poster they wish would come back/post more if it makes you feel better.

I knew you guys loved me! :)

I decided I would come back and post every know and then. I will need my Jazz fix while I am in Europe.

Yep. I have two things against me:

1) I'm young

2) I didn't play basketball for my entire life

This Jazz forum can really get unbearable at times, with the opinions. I know I've argued with you a bunch GVC, but I have always had nothing but immense respect for your desire to try and unveil the truth-- instead of suit an agenda of yours.

Honestly, that claim right there can't be said about 90% of posters here. That's what I really aim to do-- I never bitch and moan about core4 ad-nauseum, and I try to understand insights behind a coaching stuff making personnel decisions-- I stead of casting them off as idiots from the warmth of my comfy ottoman

Going back ~12 years, what happened to Red and Black Attack, the Blazers fan? I'm pretty sure he was also Saxon over on the general realgm forums. He'd always suggest the most ludicrous trades.

Also still very curious about vinyl. A number of people said he's BluesRocker, which is silly. On that note, I'm assuming Hack is BluesRocker.

While I'm at it: stop changing your names. Pick one and stick with it. Do you think I like my name?
