2014 NBA Playoffs: 2nd Round

let's see if thunder can beat the clippers first.

thunder in 7 against clippers and loses to spurs in 7.

I wasn't assuming the Thunder beat the Clippers. This series will be close all the way, and I really have no clue who will win.

If the Thunder win, they will beat the Spurs in less than 7 games. The Spurs can't beat the Thunder. Do you even watch basketball?

are you serious? you are basing this on regular season games? please tell me you are joking.
nets swept miami in the regular season. who cares about the regular season? it's the damn playoffs! can they beat spurs? of course. they have the star power. spurs are old. westbrook won't be contained. but can spurs beat the thunder? oh hell yes.

nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs. only surest thing in this playoffs were miami beating bobcats.

nets swept miami in the regular season. what's your point?

This has nothing to do with it. I don't even know how the regular season matchups went between the teams tbh.

Thunder did make them look silly the last time they played in the playoffs iirc

If you think that the Spurs inability to beat the Thunder is limited to this regular season then you haven't been paying attention to the NBA for the past 3 years.

In fact, the last time OKC went to the Finals, who did they upset after falling behind 0-2 and not having home court advantage?

The Spurs, as good as they are, cannot beat the Thunder.

.....Spurs have improved there roster....Thunder have regressed! Spurs will probably sweep. They are on a roll and have the smartest team in the NBA. Four-Four-Four!!! 4 game sweep of the Blazers....then a 4 game sweep of the Thunder/Clips....then a 4 game sweep of the Heat!

and who cares about the past season?

teams figure each other out.
i don't put too much emphasis on past season games or regular season games. playoff is happening right now. spurs are playing very well. OKC looks vulnerable to me. KD just doesn't look like a dominant force. he had 40 today, but that really didn't feel like 40. westbrook will have his highs and valley lows.

i picked spurs in 7 and i'm sticking with it. to say thunder beating spurs is the surest thing is a major slap in the face. surest thing is miami beating bobcats, hawks, bulls, wizards, etc. thunder beating spurs is not a surest thing. far from it.

By the way, I liked Mushnicks take on the second round in his latest column!

"As playoff games now go, this one quickly became too familiar. Viewers expecting either team to be eager to run in pursuit of an easy layup could have qualified for Medicare while waiting."

"Thursday’s game was empty, a chronic case of redundant, tedious, uncreative, uninspired, simplistic long-range basketball. It was similar to watching a Knicks game in February or a three-balls-for-a-buck, throw-it-in-the-basket boardwalk game.

Forty-eight 3-point shots were taken, a bipartisan strategy that favors “hot shooters” as opposed to any better ideas, such as — forgive the radical notion — attacking the basket during a three-on-two or looking inside as an alternative to shooting a 3.

The crowd didn’t seem much into it, likely because there wasn’t much to get in to. Rebound, walk it up, kill some clock, take a long shot. And these fans paid extra for that privilege. "

They can figure them out, but they can't beat them. It's a horrible matchup for the Spurs, especially Westbrook.

No, it's not as sure as Heat vs. Bobcats (you foreigners are pathetic at deciphering sarcasm and exaggeration), but if both teams play with consistent focus and effort the Thunder take it no problem. The Spurs hope lies in the fact that they play with max effort and focus virtually 100% of the time, so if the Thunder are a bit complacent and unfocused they can maybe pull it out. They did get an unmotivated Thunder team for the first two games the last time they met in the playoffs. Then the Thunder raised their levels of effort and focus, and won 4 in a row.

but last time they met in the playoffs thunder had harden. big game 3 with 30pts. i just don't like the make up of this thunder team. too much dependence on KD and westbrook. and many would agree brooks is not a great coach. i never really believed in him. at the end of the day they are missing 1 key consistent scoring threat to me. and just not enough inside game. i'll not be surprised if thunder wins. but don't be surprised if spurs win. at least i won't.

brooks was awful, but okc really need guys like marc gasol and have 1 more lethal shooter outside.

Off-ball players will never succeed in OKC with Brooks there. You have to create a system so those guys can get looks on a consistent basis. Sefalosha would probably be a fairly good 3pt shooter with the Spurs, but is useless in OKC. The only role player on OKC who does good is Reggie Jackson because he can ISO. Watching how bad their offense actually makes me mad. Brooks really going to allow Chris Paul to guard Durant?

Brooks' Thought Process: "Hey, Chris Paul is guarding Durant, let's have him post up 22 feet away from the basket."

Spurs will probably murder either team, but Clippers have a much better chance because their coach isn't Scott Brooks.
