Game Of Thrones

I’m gonna have to read the books.

Surely that means learning to read first?

When I was in Uni I convinced some bint I was illiterate after she stopped to bother me about something while I was walking out of the library.

"But you just walked out of the library"

"I know I'm ashamed, but it keeps up the pretence."

Im not sure she really believed me but it was happy hour at the Uni pub and i was running late.

Not that it's necessarily the "good material" from the books per se, but not incorporating the (Fake)aegon storyline is hurting the show as well. There are entire swaths of the continent completely ignored in the show now, and as a result the world feels small and empty especially compared to how it felt in the beginning of the series.
Yeah, Danny just went from the North right to King's Landing. I imagine Jon will arrive at King's landing next episode with no show time devoted to the journey, which is over 1000 miles iirc. The inn where so much stuff happened (Catelyn takes custody of Tyrion, Hot Pie is now the baker, etc, etc) is not going to be part of it. Is there no one to stop people crossing the Twins or extracting a toll? Is The Neck not really a thing anymore? Nothing of note happens along the way, just one minute they are in Winterfell next minute they arrive at King's Landing.

So many chances to play on the history and fan nostalgia of the series if done correctly, but what we get is a show where there is Winterfell (point A) and King's Landing (point B) and nothing of consequence between.

So much of the early seasons happened during characters' journey from place to place. Now everything happens at the destination. There is no journey.

The series ran too short. But why? They could have dragged this out much longer and been a much better show. Why cut a series short that is this popular?
I think there is a concern that the actors don't want to commit their entire career to a single project. They become popular because of this show and they want to cash in doing other work. Or they want to be known for more than just this.

I'm a huge fan of Deadwood. A hugely underrated show that only ran 3 seasons because they couldn't get enough of the cast to agree to terms for the fourth season. After 10 years they are going to wrap up one of the best series that has ever been on television with a feature length movie (May 31st on HBO). I can't tell you how horrible it was to not get season 4 of that show.

There has never been a show that had better casting than Deadwood. NEVER. The writing for that show (however filled with cursing) is pure poetry. The only thing wrong with Deadwood is that it wasn't finished, and it wasn't finished because the cast wouldn't commit to more seasons.

I have low expectations for the Deadwood movie, but I'll be happy to get a conclusion ten years later.

Dan fighting the Captain was one of the best fights I've ever seen on TV. Love me some Deadwood, I share the same fear on the movie, isn't it supposed to be a couple of movies?

If it is I'm through the moon. I think it's only one.

heathen!!!! I shall smite thee!!!!!

Hey, Richie shows up and is a good boy...for only so long and then reverts back to the scumbag he is. Hey, Ralphie shows back up and is a good boy...for only so long and then he reverts back to the scumbag he is. Hey, Tony shows back up and is a good boy...for only so long and then he reverts back to the scumbag he is. So original.

My gf's uncle is Charlie Utter in Deadwood. He's in a bunch of other things too.

I liked Deadwood, but the dialogue wasn't my favorite and they said **** sucker every other word.

Because they knew they couldn’t stand up next to Martin’s materiel. They knew the ship was sinking. So end it fast.

Its about the conflict within Tony, the catharsis, you're just pissed off it was based in Jersey and you didn't get a look in or a complimentary table at the Bing.

I’ve never watched Deadwood and I knew exactly what fight you were talking about. Crazy.

Did any of you cry or feel shocked or gut punched when the dragon died in episode 4? I didn't. It was like, oh hey is that dragon really dead, hum. That escalated quickly. Sucks for Danny I guess.

Missandei's death had some emotional impact for me. It was so pointless, though. Cersei never heard of using a hostage?

They could still have the conflict within Tony without the same templated seasons.

I think this represents how Game of Thrones was created through the years;)

The dialogue is pure gold imho. How do you think mostly uneducated miners in a wild west frontier town would talk? I think it's perfect.
