Official UofU homer thread

Do PAC 12 officals have an arrangement with Fox sports?

"We'll keep the game close if you put our face on the screen multiple times."

Yeah just keep getting burned with the same deep ball...Either Whitt is just not a good enough tactical coach or not a good enough recruiter. Probably a bit of both.

USC's "3rd" string was the 2nd string QB last year just FYI and most of those deep balls the U's DB's were in position (not all but most) and they just didn't make the play. The scheme wasn't to blame on those it was player execution, Scalley put the players in position but the players failed to make the play.

Heck on 2 of those deep balls the QB escaped what should've been a sack to throw a desperation heave, so the LB on one and the DL on the other didn't make the play and then the DB on both those also failed to make the play despite being in good position.

Personally I was most disappointed in the OLine cause they were horrible, not bad but H O R R I B L E. The one time a OLineman blocked someone (Ford) they were called for a hold, which was the same play Kyle got a flag called because it wasn't a hold. Ford blocked the USC DL so good he knocked him on his *** and I think the refs were so surprised since they hadn't seen the U Oline do that all game they just threw a flag out of dumfoundedness.

Huntley is 7 for 9 with 2 TDs and if you've watched the game you know he should be 8 for 9 with 3 TDs. Cut that kid that dropped it.

Btw, Mike Leach is a national treasure. Don't care that he's a BYU guy or zoobie (is that even a thing anymore?)

Wow, what a difference a week makes. I’m still bitterly disappointed in the USC loss, but now I wonder if that served as some sort of wake up call that they’re not good enough just to show up.

I’m all in on Ludwig. That offense vs Wazzu looked as good as it ever has in PAC12 play and we didn’t even seem to notice the loss of Covey or Moss. Wazzu’s Defense is awful but we’ve seen Utah’s Offense come up short vs more than a few subpar P12 Defenses. This team can be 7-1 rolling into the Washington game if they play to their potential and still have a shot of hitting some pretty lofty achievements.

Now I just gotta survive the bye week...

I love Covey but his only value at this point is having someone we trust to fair catch punts.

There's multiple WRs that are better at what he does on this team.
Rather have the ball in Dixons or Vickers hands.

I’m glad to see a Ute fan that shares the same opinion on Covey. Most Ute fans gasp when I give them my thoughts.

He’s a tough kid with a ton of moxie but to be blunt, if he’s your best WR (and best offensive option) on a PAC 12 team, your offense isn’t going to be very good. Even when he returns from his redshirt next year, I don’t think a 100% healthy Covey is one of the 5 best WR’s on the roster. He also coughs the ball up at a disturbing rate and never seems to catch the wrath of the coaches for fumbling as often as he does. I do agree about his value as a punt/kick returner. On Special Teams he’s an absolute weapon who can take any kick the distance.

When he returns I’d actually like to see him used exclusively as a kick returner and give him 4-5 touches per game with some of the gadgetry out of the backfield that Ludwig likes to employ, as evidenced by last game when he used a TE on a jet sweep and that beautiful Vickers play that went for a TD.

Well it seems Covey is going redshirt this year.

Also as far as his play and what not being discussed above. He obviously hasn't been healthy this year and he has not looked even remotely the same. Last year for over half the season he was playing with a broken wrist and was not as reliable as he seemed to be his Freshman year before the mission.

So I would say we are forgetting how good he was as a Freshman but he also shouldn't be the primary WR or best WR but in any given game he can be the most productive due to his utility in ways he can be used.
