Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

According to the IceCubeCubano guy, the Jazz contacted the Heat today and formally broke off trade negotiations. Jazz are either going to finalize with the Knicks or pass on a deal for now.

Dude, you are drastically underselling how easy it was for Jazz fans to get excited about players like Al Jefferson and Josh Howard. That was mere child’s play.

To drive that point home even further, I’ve watched this fan base find a way to get themselves excited about Michael Ruffin and Tom Gugliotta.

For all of our little quirks- minus the teeny bit of racism, Jazz fans are a bunch of god damn troopers. It won’t be long until we lick our wounds and start showing up to Vivint in droves to get a glance of the rebuild.
I actually had fun rooting for losses during the season that culminated in the Exum pick. Only thing I truly hated about that season was Corbins unwillingness to embrace the tank and develop our young guys with more minutes rather than play Richard Jefferson, jamaal tinley and other vets so much.
If he would have embraced the tank then maybe we end up with embiid instead of exum.
Buy ya, you are right. We will get behind the tank. At least I know I will. Im gonna be actively rooting for losses next year and look foward to it.

They want something we have, something that other people also want. The second they offer less than MIA or someone else can offer and won't budge they lose. They have none of the leverage. All they have is the biggest possible offer. That's their leverage, how much they can give us. That doesn't give them leverage to give us less.
Their leverage isn't unlimited, of course. But their leverage is the gap between Miami's (or BKN's) offer and what Ainge is currently asking. I happen to think that gap is fairly substantial. Others may disagree.

That's unless you think Ainge is just totally prepared to walk away from any offer (I'm skeptical).

I have been listening to knickfan TV podcast with callers. Knicks fan is going to burn down the Garden if this falls through. Also they want to keep Quickly the most. Me, I'm done with undersized guards. . .
Grimes, Toppin, Fournier and a boatload of picks would be a great scenario IMO.

Bolmaro - JB
Grimes - NAW
Beasley - Fournier
Toppin - Vanderbilt - Gay
Kessler - Azibuke

Trade Bogey, Clarkson, Beverley and Conley for additional assets. Whoever comes back in those deals can compete for a role and minutes as well. Try to flip Beasley, Vanderbilt, Gay and possibly Fournier at the deadline if possible.

I’d try to avoid taking on more that 2 years of bad salary. We want any incoming contracts to end going into the 2024 offseason so they can open up a max slot and hope there’s someone worth filling it with.

He just needs to see what other offers there are for Mitchell. Put NY on hold and scare the **** out of them while we see what Orlando and Miami and OKC can offer for Mitchell, we might come back to NY, or we might not.

We know what Miami can offer.

Why does ORL keep getting mentioned occasionally here? I've never seen any other place where anyone's mentioning them as possibly being in the running.

OKC would probably extract a FRP out of us just for agreeing to feign interest in the media for Donovan.

Ainge and Jazz have all the leverage. Don is under contract. We keep him for a year until next offseason or the deadline then Knicks run risk that there will be more suitors. They can’t afford to miss out on Don

I mean, we had enough dissatisfying wins last season, at least there will be incentive to lose.

Sounds like Knicks have the best offer on the table
And sounds like Ainge is trying to squeeze them for some more
If it works that's good
If it backfires, then what

Danny must be doing something right. People are pissed at him for the Rudy deal. LOL.. If he closes the NY deal, he will go down a legend perhaps to the HOF for Executive of the decade. He might even have a statute built for him. LMAO!!!!!!:p I see the reason for the anger because he has destroyed the market with the Rudy deal. Not his fault blame Minnesota. They are the ones who fell under Danny's spell and coughed up all the draft picks.

I’m fine taking Randle if they attach more picks/players btw. The salary doesn’t hurt us at all. And he’s a tank commander and/or a guy who can rehab his value a bit with some opportunity on an awful team. I don’t know why he’s treated like absolute poison. We want the Jazz to suck.

The biggest issue to me is that the Jazz are going to have some young guys come into the club that are going to need to get paid 2nd contracts. As soon as that starts happening, cap space disappears. It would be nice to have one season of max cap space to see what DA can do with it. Randle costs $27 million on the books that year. I’d rather that be in NY instead of Utah. Let him be their tank commander or albatross. At least Fournier has a team option that season. I’d MUCH rather have that on the books the next two seasons and then open up that space heading into the 2024 offseason.

The knicks have zero leverage. Donovan’s value won’t drop if I’m Ainge I just hold off. Donovan will hold his value and the knicks will look ridiculous if they don’t make a deal happen. They can’t afford to miss out on another all star and more importantly all knicks fans want a deal.

I mean Rudy was going to play hard and not bitch no matter where he was traded. There is extra value in that. It is why no one wants to pay KDs asking price. With New York, they are going to play a premium because they know he won't want out, probably ever. He's already a part of that community. Imagine the price Utah would have paid to bring in Jimmer if he were a top 25 player.

No, our draft picks depend upon them being stuck with Randals contract.
