I think it would be within the realm of possibility, but he is such a sieve on defense I don't think Utah would want him.

He's also a career 37% from the field and 25% from 3 in 52 playoff games.

I don't think Utah's offense is bad enough where you have to sacrifice that much defense and playoff viability to get scoring.

Trade Bradley to whichever team has a TPE or injury exception and get a second rounder.

To be fair though I don't think the reactions were all that mixed. I know hack hated the trade but he is an idiot. I think thee hated it. Who else though?
I think like 80% of jazzfanz thought it was a good trade for the jazz

I mean, yeah Hack is the only person who outright hated it, but a decent number of people thought we overpaid.

I didn't like that we gave up 2 picks for a player who'll, at most, play for one more season. But in retrospect, he's been good for us, and it's been worth it.

Maybe, but putting too much focus in the long-term isnt always the best. Some moves have to be about winning games in the immediate future.

Im pretty confident the Clippers won't make the playoffs. Their guard and big play isnt good enough and their best offensive players are bottom 10 percentile defenders.

LA is still LA though and he might wait on them. And if the Clippers miraculously get two stars (I'm very skeptical), then the Lakers might sign Tobias Harris because the star market will be that much thinner.

PG’s free agency had a couple subplots that may not have been fully recognized... biggest issue is they pissed off Julius Randle who shares an agent with PG. not that he wouldn’t have still chosen them but if his agent let him know the front office is a wreck I’m sure it factored in.

I agree in large part though... FA isn’t always rational. I think we have a compelling case and if they have wandering eyes it cracks the door open. Could even point to their big game hunting and trade of Blake to say “hey you may sign with them in the summer and be playing in Detroit by mid season... he’s been traded a few times some it may or may not be a big deal.

I don’t think it’s a pipe dream I guess is what I’m saying... maybe more of a 10-20% chance of getting a yes. Work the DM back channels to get a read on how he feels. I don’t think they will throw down the 5 year max to trump all offers... I think Milwaukee will if need be... could absolutely be wrong and West (he’s advising there still right?) is so damned good that I doubt he makes a mistake.

The other thing that has happened is it doesn’t seem like Butler and Kyrie are complete locks to go back to their teams.

My biggest thing is they are assets we can easily get back with just straight cash if we want. I also think if we wanted to move Korver we could get better seconds than we gave. Would be a dick move by us because he kinda picked us but still.
 
One of my only qualms with the front office was not using seconds for actual basketball assets... using them in a trade for a clear rotation player who is an amazing locker room guy was a no-brainer.

The bigger question was the second year on the deal, but even that is like 50% guaranteed, so you can waive and stretch it and end up in the same basic place capwise. We also saved enough dough to straight buy a good second this year if we want. I honestly felt like we robbed Cleveland and I think they had better offers, but had the wink wink deal with Kyle when he re-signed that they had to honor.

I guess what I'm getting at is maybe we want to retain Neto, Niang in any scenario (big fish or other addition) and wouldn't want to lose them for nothing... Say we trade our first (top 20 protected) and Bradley for good seconds... Say orlando that has their own and Cleveland's seconds... so our first if it lands 21-30 for 31 & 45... it saves the 3-3.5M we need to keep Neto/Niang (if we want) and still have max space.

I think you have to look at some indirect effects, too. I think our FA game plan this summer, if we expect to be players, hinges significantly on how we do in our seedings and how we do in the post-season. For us to look attractive to the type of person we're wanting, we have to show that we're a compatible match that us + them really puts us into the discussion. It's hard to do that if we're 6 seed or lower. Adding Korver has proved to be a huge piece of the puzzle of pushing us into discussion for HCA, and that pays dividends and converts to greater free agency maneuverability.
 
Tobias is perfect, but in my opinion the only way to get him is to go full on aggressive OKC style and trade for him at the deadline.

LA/West is smart enough to know that he can just walk this summer. They need to embrace the tank if they are on the outside of the playoff picture on 2/7. Like Cy said and I agree, they aren't a playoff team. They get assets for Harris and keep their own pick this year. In the summer, they go after the "big fish" like Butler, Kyrie, Klay, KD, etc. LA proved they are on the way up. Paying Harris $37 or $38 isn't their grand plan.

We can cross our fingers and hope to sign him this summer, but I think we have a better chance if we bring us with him into this postseason.

I will settle for a Tony Bradley season where the team trusts him as a third center and he plays regular rotation minutes at an acceptable level.

It’s a great idea but there isn’t a lot that we have that has value and that we’d be willing to move.

A first and Favs? Sure. I’d do that... they might get more.

A first Favs and Crowder? For Tobias and Beverly? Not sure it moves the needle.

2 firsts? A first and Grayson? Two firsts and Grayson? I think it’s a bit much honestly... maybe he hates it here because Joe Ingles talks too much smack (or some other ridiculous reason).

I think we have just as much chance to get him in FA as we do a trade. It would help if they would fade faster but they are likely still in the playoff picture in 2 weeks when the trade deadline rolls around.
