2020 Presidential election

This.
I always thought Dasjazz was better than troll or idiot. Maybe I was wrong

Far from wrong my friend. Just don't immediately go to absolute worst case thought process on everything Trump related. And if you express that point of view here you are labeled as a troll or idiot.

See my follow up post. Also, I don't disagree with you in that he is unlike any other president we have experienced as a nation. I just don't view it as a bad thing all the way around as some of you guys and gals do. I do wish he would be more calculated in some of his messaging though as it gets misconstrued as overly aggressive and then twisted into phobia this, racist that hyperbole.

Quoting the president isn’t twisting anything. Nor should we continue to make excuses for his unpolished behavior. He’s now in his 3rd year as president and yet his “communication” mistakes only seem to be increasing.

If he sucks so bad at messaging, maybe he shouldn’t be president? His words matter.

I have no idea who to vote for in 2020. The only pressing issue to me is fixing the national debt problem. Literally, I don't care about anything else in comparison to this one issue. The last president to balance the budget was Bill Clinton.

Is there a Democratic candidate that has any intention to limit or spending or find a way to balance the budget?

This.

There is no candidate from either party who will do this.

It’s okay though, the debt is only 22 trillion and growing 1 trillion per year. Round numbers.

When we were in crisis this was ok. But ballooning the debt when the economy is strong is immoral. Our grandkids will pay off our credit card with their poverty.

This will be the most important legacy of Obama’s second term and the trump presidency.

Did you hear about the bipartisan vote yesterday to increase the deficit ceiling and fund the city for the next 2 years?

It was approved which shows me that neither party is serious about fixing the issue at hand.

The Kochs hate Trump. I used to work for Charles Koch.

A. The Kochs are still spending millions to elect republicans. At least, I haven’t read their refusing to fund republican campaigns. Electing republicans at any level is supporting trump and Trumpism. The party needs to be wholly rejected to defeat Trumpism.

B. The Kochs still have arguably the largest think conservative tank/propaganda apparatus in America. These think tanks provide cover for trump’s policies. Heritage, Cato, etc help readers justify the bad stuff about trump.

C. While I think the Kochs have been clear in their disdain for trump, they also still love his deregulation and tax cuts, things they’ve fought for for decades. If the Kochs really didn’t support trump, they’d reject his tax cuts, focus their funding and propaganda apparatus to helping democrats win elections.

The Kochs are nothing more than rich opportunist conservatives with a libertarian bend who are using trump as a means to an end.

Same way certain ones call each other the N word. Why can't they just be people?
Because our racist society doesn't allow them to be just people. Our country has been founded on racist actions (Indian genocide, slavery, etc), and to pretend that it has been fixed is the ultimate definition of white privilege. It's really easy as a white person to claim colorblindness because whites do not have to think about race every day.

You said those women hate America. Why?

So you assume that I am white? And also, whites don't have to think about race every day? They literally have to tiptoe around the subject due to previous history thst they have nothing to do with.

IIRC, you have referred to yourself as mixed race.

I'm white, and I don't have to tiptoe around the subject at all. Race almost never comes up in my day-to-day life, and that's working at two different universities with a racially diverse mix of co-workers and students. All white people need to do is not say incredibly stupid things, and occasionally shut their mouth and listen when others talk, and they are so far ahead of how other people treat minorities that it's considered respectable, as opposed to an expected, bare minimum.

I don't see how this is difficult.

Trump telling those ladies to go back to where they came from, at the bare minimum, appears to be race based. Given his history, I don't see how it's defendable.

Now if he had said, "if they don't like things here, they may choose to leave" that's totally different. But he didn't say that.

I don't agree with much of what those ladies say, but they have the right to say it, and I will fight for that. They are American citizens, voted into positions of power by American citizens, and they don't deserve to be told to go back to where they came from. I also think that's part of the argument for why America is still a country where anybody can succeed. Illhan was an asylum refugee, became a citizen at 17, and eventually elected to Congress! That's pretty amazing!

Just my perception after seeing how they talk and how they go out of their way to obstruct meaningful progress. Nancy Pelosi comes to mind in this case.

Have you ever reflected that... Your disdain for Democrats is clouding your judgement of what Pelosi and "The Squad" are meaning to do with their words and actions? You accuse others of letting their dislike for Trump cloud their judgement of his actions yet I'm not seeing much self-introspection on your part.

Very well put. I agree with you.

Saying that anyone who supports any republican is a Trumpist goes too far. That would make me a Trumpist.

Kinda like saying if you agree with Trump on anything (tax cuts, deregulation) you are a Trump lover. That would make me a Trumpist since I liked the criminal justice reform and the stance he has taken with China on trade. You don't have to hate every policy to hate what he is doing overall, right?

The Kochs are nothing more than rich opportunist conservatives with a libertarian bend who are using trump as a means to an end.

I disagree. Charles Koch is a principled libertarian and a highly ethical guy. He cares a lot about many things besides money.

I just don't see it that way. He never referred to the supposed Squad by name, race, color, religion, anything. He did refer to American hating congresswomen which is pretty accurate. He then said fix the problem where you are from and then come back and ahow us how it's done.

I’m just curious as to why you define the congresswomen as “American hating.”

Today, both Mike Lee and Rand Paul voted against funding benefits to 9/11 first responders.

Rep Omar cosponsored this bill and all four women supported it.
Mike Lee and Rand Paul voted against it.

Yet these four women are taking heat for “hating America?”

How? Why?

Nothing at all, simply glad that you're not just a crazed leftist who is against anything and everything that an opposition party president puts up. It's refreshing.
So he's not theis imaginary gremlin you seem to believe in as the standard leftist?

Actually, as I have previously stated, I tend to vote more independently than traditional party lines. I take into account the person and their proposed policies and then do my best to make an educated decision.

For me, the democratic lean to the far left is a bit too much for me to trust their judgment as of today. Now, that can change and hopefully it will, but right now, it seems to be a contest to see who can go further and further to the socialist side than the other and I don't think that is good for the country.
