What's new

At what point is it time to get concerned about Hayward?

I want to see him step up when the game is at a critical juncture, and take over.. Is that asking too much??

No it's not, it's what superstars do, true difference makers. We're Jazz fans, it'd be stupid to think that we wouldn't want Hayward to succeed and turn into that consolidated superstar but he just doesn't quite get there. Which on the other hand is being balanced with good team work and playing good D. Again I'm seeing more things from Hood this year than from Hayward at the same point in their careers.

Slumps happen. He had bad stretches of games last year:

November 15-November 21: 12-33 (36.4%), 2-11 (18.2%) from 3, 12.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 3 APG, 2.3 TOPG

February 23-February 28: 20-63 (31.7%), 2-14 (14.3%) from 3, 16.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, 6.3 TOPG

This season: 12-34 (35.3%), 3-8 (37.5%) from 3, 12.0 PPG. 3.7 RPG, 2.7 APG, 2.7 TOPG

There's no reason to be worried just yet. Especially how we have the 2nd largest Margin of Victory in the league so far and Hayward hasn't even played up to his standard yet.

More of an all around team game being played with a clear focus on Favors. I don't see that as regression, I see it as game planning by the coaching staff.

Utah is not and never will be a team like the Knicks where everything goes through a wannabe superstar like Carmello and then they wonder why they lost. The Jazz have always had a mentality of team first ball. Whether you score 4 points or 40 is irrelevant in our offensive approach of ball movement and easy baskets.

Hayward didn't show up to play, and George put the ****ing team on his back though. We're now talking apples and oranges..

He absolutely showed up last year. Go look at his stats if you don't believe me. This whole convo was apples to oranges when you tried to compare the playoff elite (in the east) Pacers snd the lucky to be in the playoffs once Jazz. All I am saying is that Haywaard v. George is a legit argument. You don't believe so and that's fine. I do and you won't change that opinion.

I'm not sure that's the case, but he hasn't looked great ever since the McCollum throw to the floor. He looked great in every game prior and has looked passive and pedestrian after. Hopefully he shakes it off quickly. BTW I think he's been doing hell of a job defending.

I also think Hood is somewhat ball-hogging at times and taking away possessions from him. If he keeps his high shooting %s(and starts hitting the 3 better) I don't mind it much, but they will gel better together with time.

He's started off the season rusty on offense. I wouldnt be worried yet. Its good we've won two games without him contributing on offense.

Once he gets going we are going to be that much better.

lol

The guy has been our best perimeter defender by far (really like how people dont mention this at all, he has taken the next step on a defensive level). Let's all freak out he hasnt shot well yet.

When should we be concerned that Burks has taken 1 three pointer in 3 games?

When should we be concerned Rodney Hood only has 2 FTA's in 3 games?

When should we be concerned that Raul Neto is 1/11 from inside the 3pt line?

I feel like a claim this BOLD should it turn out false, the user should be banned from jazzfanz for lack of team moral!!

He already claimed he would quit Jazzfanz if Neto made the team over Cotton. He isn't a man of his word.

This is the most idiotic Jazzfanz thread in a while. I thought PGAB had more Bball IQ than this.

Our defense is looking ready good right now. Once Hayward and some other guys lock in on offense, we're going to be pretty good.

Hayward has played like **** so far this season, and it's not just his scoring. But it isn't like he hasn't gone thru slumps before. He'll rebound soon enough. I'm excited to see the Jazz play this well without the typical performance from Hayward. That's very encouraging.

He has been the Jazz's best perimeter defender by far.
