Can we talk about Favors' Corner Three?

No, because competent teams have no problems both pack the paint and challenge 3pt shots at the same time. It's not 90-00's any longer. You need to be able to be drive hard when 3pt shot is challenged.

They would have to extend their defense further than they need to currently. If you don't think that results in more space (and more ground to cover for the defense) than you are very likely mentally challenged.

Is that why Steve Novak doesn't see the floor?

To be fair you could say "If kanter had reliable defensive presence > Favors"

Yeah, but he has proven he doesn't. When he starts to show real improvement in that regard (like Favors has [the fact that that was a designed play isn't a small-deal and I think reveals a lot about Utah's intentions going forward]), then we can have that discussion. As it stands, teams are running the Shaq-kryptonite offense against Kanter (make him guard out on the floor and think at the same time) when they need points.

There is a sea of difference between "terrifying" for defenses and "need to cover more ground". Pay attention to what exactly is being argued. For most teams Favors shooting threes is no different to defending Booker

Don't be pedantic. Look at the big picture.

So back on topic.
This is so huge. If you don't see that, make another thread about it, cause this one is about how awesome it would be if Favors made that part of his repertoire going forward.

Can you imagine what it opens up for our slashers to clear the middle? Think Dante, Hayward, Burks, Hood and even inside guys like Carroll and Rudy. Spacing is our biggest challenge on O. You could even make an argument that poor spacing (cheating defenders) contributes to a few turnovers each game.

The play was clearly planned/on purpose. Is there a better development coach than QS? I can't wait to see more of the experiment!

We have to get every inch of spacing possible with Gobert on the floor, so it's a big deal. Not for his game, but just for the spacing of the offense.

If Favors had Novak's three-point shot we'd be legitimate contenders starting next season.

Heard Favors talking about extending his range in a interview recently... To see that set play for favors hitting that three got me excited. They wouldn't have run the play if they hadn't worked on it, that right there should get everyone excited.
