What's new

Donald Trump

I have a feeling that the third party vote will be very high in this election cycle. It could impact the outcome, but I have no idea which candidate that will ultimately favor. There are a ton of Bernie voters who say they would never vote for Hillary so the idea that all third party votes help her makes no sense at all.

I agree. I think the real story of this election won't be about who wins but about how the third party voters and did not bothers reshaped the political parties. I think losing this election would be a blessing in disguise for either party. The stage is set for a popular 2 term president in 2020. I wouldn't want to be the party running one of these two as an incumbent against that person.

Give me a break.
I'm no Trump supporter, but to say Trump supporters are the scum of the earth and the problem with democracy is hot air. Some of the most kind-hearted, brilliant, successful, and FULL of philanthropy people I know are staunch Trump supporters.

And let me tell you something. If they stood toe to toe with anyone here and gave their chapter and verse as to why they support him, you'd find it very difficult to refute their positions (I've been there with them).

The problem is the two-party system and how it's manipulated by so many artificial factors that no "good man" wants to even run for President. The system is what makes a mockery of our "democracy."

This is totally fair. I'm really just venting as I don't think Cruz was a good alternative to Trump.

And ultimately I have to remind myself that we are just talking about the presidency. They aren't as powerful as we often times give them credit for.

But Trump is a special kind of despicable. That's isn't to say that perfectly decent people can't look past his blatant nationalistic, undeniably racially divisive, very simplistic rhetoric and find something in all that muck to agree with him on. But you can't convince me that the bulk of his support is coming from intelligent nuanced individuals who have a well articulated argument for why he is the best candidate. Trump is clearly courting the 'murica crowd and whipping them into a frenzy of hateful patriotism that might just spin out of control.

Since we've come this far with the most embarrassing Presidential race in history... I gotta say, I can't wait to be entertained by Hillary and Trump. It will be embarrassing to Americans, but I think it will provide sound bites for the ages.

Yep. And since there's zero chance I will vote for either of them, I can sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

you've captured my imagination and tenacious argumentative disposition with this "zero chance" expression. It's where I live, bro.

Now I'm gonna work on you until you cave and vote for Trump.

Whatever else you can say about Trump, he's the Man for the Council on Foreign Relations and the future importance of the United Nations. He's the friendly, lovable face of fascism, and you know it. A vote for him is a vote for everything good about America, and the for the future goodness of the World.

He knows all the important people, and he has toilets with gold. . . solid gold. . . seats, and even a gold veneer on the bowl. He knows how to get stuff done. That's what really counts.

Vote for Trump. He's the Stud.

P.S. If there's one thing I know about American female hipsters it's that they will be seriously rethinking the Canada idea after their first winter there.

not to go all eco on y'all but bad-winters are a forgotten story here in Edmonton. The winters recently in comparison to those in my childhood are simply insane. We're breaking every weather record here over these last couple of years. Yesterday, today, forest fires everywhere. It's never been 30 degrees Celsius in early May like this.

There's no denying that he has the redneck dumb**** vote sewn up, but that does not account for all of his support. You are way oversimplifying his appeal. That's not surprising because you are listening to the people who are trying to beat him based upon that simplification. Both political parties know that dumb****s can play a big role in getting elected. On the left they are consistently fighting to simplify (or eliminate) the registration process and even driving their dumb****s to the polling places in order to earn that segment of their vote.

P.S. Count me among the crowd who is sick and tired of the "nuanced" argument. "Nuance" is really a way for the PC crowd to believe that their convoluted view of the world is proof of their superior intelligence. I believe in common sense.

Common sense tells me Trump supports racism, sexism and nationalism. I have a more nuanced concept of who he is, but you wouldn't be interested in that, I'm sure.

Anyone who's okay with the way Trump has conducted himself makes me think they either agree with those ideas or... Well honestly I can't imagine someone putting those issues aside because of some greater common ground they share with him.

It is a fact that the US is importing lots of crime via our porous southern border. I'm sure you are right that there are supporters of a wall who are racist, but that doesn't make the idea of a wall racist. It's too bad that Mexico, a country so blessed in resources, is ruled by such rampant corruption.

I'm for a controlled border not because I care about the color of people's skin, but because there are many, many reasons that immigration should be done legally. I hope that Trump supports these ideas for similar reasons (I've heard him say that he does), but I can't be sure, especially because I do not believe he is honest.
