What's new

El Paso Shooting

I lived out of the country for a few, but it's been a long time ago and I didn't watch the news or read the paper. For those of you who are familiar with both the US media and another country's media, are things reported vastly different here?

I think the media encourages these unstable people and entices them with coverage and media attention. Do any of you think this is a major factor or a non-factor?

I keep seeing the blame directed at Trump, white supremacists/race, political parties, religion, video games, etc but don't really see any of the blame directed at the media and journalism. I, personally, think the media loves profiting off of these events because they get clicks and views. #nightcrawler

It's a tough call, because I'm not willing to have the media soft pedal the world to us either. I do think it would be awesome if the media just ignored everything Trump said and did, but that wouldn't be honest and fair reporting. But yeah, I agree that they love every controversial thing as it improves their bottom line. Capitalism and freedom.

Lol - I'll let you guys get back to your echo chamber. Clearly you're not used to having your own definitions of hate and racism applied to what you say. It's ok, I know you feel justified and that you're right and everyone else is ignorant. Everyone else is Cleutus..

It’s not that your pressure resulted in revealing hypocrisy that prevents this discussion from going forward. It’s your I’m compatible argument itself. You’re trying to apply standards against racism and hate to my strong belief that people who support a white nationalist should be ashamed and embarrassed. It’s clearly not the same thing. There’s no hypocrisy to reveal.

Coddling white supremacy is what got us here in the first place. I stand against coddling racists, deplorables, and those willfully ignorant. No more coddling or rationalizing these people. It’s 2019 and we’re in the midst of a crisis. Time to wake up.

Your insistence that this reveals hypocrisy is absurd. So why continue arguing? Run along now

"President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun."

Wow.

And in a week we will have forgotten El Paso and Dayton and the NRA and republcians will have dodged another bullet. Nothing will be done related to gun regulation. And in probably two or three weeks a theater or school will be shot up and we’ll repeat this whole process again. Remember now, school is starting again so they’ll be prime targets for the ammosexuals who have way too many guns.

Sadly, there will be children and teachers worthlessly killed in the next 3 months who are currently alive today eagerly buying “Back to School” supplies all because one party is completely bought off by the NRA. Sorry if this truth triggers some of you. But you all know it’s true.

The part I don’t like is that he “quietly” signed the bill. A debate should have been had about what categorizes as a mental illness. I don’t trust the guy.

It also reveals the silliness of declaring our media a “liberal media.” If we truly had a liberal media, there’s no way trump could have “quietly” signed that bill.

It’s definitely a factor. Money talks and sex, violence, and controversy amongst other things, sell.

Trump's social media advisor definitely focused on what's important right now

Trump himself

Neither Brown nor Whaley made any negative remarks about Trump's hospital visit. It's all just made up, so Trump can make himself a victim in this.

Can a Trump supporter please explain why he is lying about this?
