This is good. As a mentor once taught me, if it's not in writing, it didn't happen. I'd like to know if this happened-I hope it didn't.
So we dont believe what DL says now? They aren't verbatim notes. I'm sure they are very detailed, but 0% chance they are verbatim.
No way they go,
EM: "You are a **** GM, and I hate your stupid face"
DL: "Say one more word and I'll send your black *** back to Louisiana."
EM: "What did you say to me?"
DL: "You heard what I said."
And on and on and on.
I'm sure they are very detailed notes about the important topics that were discussed. Not who called who what name or who demeaned what race.
LOL! All I kept thinking reading this thread was that One Brow needed to join in with Cy. Where's Salty?Do you have a good reason to think it's not true?
If DL is encouraging the league to investigate it, he must be feeling pretty confident they won't find anything.
If he said it, he should definitely face repercussions.......but should everyone that makes a racially insensitive remark, possibly in a heated exchange or misguided attempt to motivate someone, automatically lose their job?Would suck to lose DL. He built a title contender. If it is proven beyond reasonable doubt he said that tho, he should be fired.
I agree with what you're saying, but at this point if it turns out he did say it, it would also mean that he lied about it, boldly, which makes it a lot worse. If he said it, he should definitely face repercussions.......but should everyone that makes a racially insensitive remark, possibly in a heated exchange or misguided attempt to motivate someone, automatically lose their job?
We need to stop erasing people from society due to these mistakes. Suspension, diversity training, sincere apology......all of that would seem justified. But immediate termination and essentially banning him from basketball employment for the rest of his life?
Has no one else ever made a stupid mistake that you regret? No one here has ever told a dumb racist joke.....or laughed at one? Ever said something offensive? Mistreated someone?
Just surprised me how quickly people go for blood. No room for mercy. No room for growth or change. Only punishment.
So he's guilty until proven innocent.I agree with what you're saying, but at this point if it turns out he did say it, it would also mean that he lied about it, boldly, which makes it a lot worse.
