Big wheel and axle ratchets? Yeah, many many times easier. You ever use a wrench?
I had asked the question because I just wasn't sure if your statement implied you thought he'd need multiple people to handle the contraption.

Do you have any ****ing concept of weight? No, of course you don't. Favors must've weighed easily over 270 pounds last year. Even though he's never been listed at that weight. Moron.
?
Why does the arrow have to weigh so much?

Do you know how much the arrow of a compound bow weighs? This easily weighs 5-10x that. I'd guess more like 20x that based on how he was carrying it.
You want a ratio of 5 grain/per pound of draw weight, so not that much.
The arrow is large based on it's target. Regular or even double sized arrows wouldn't even slow the dragons down.
Since the arrow is massive extra force is need to propel it at adequate speed and lengths. This requires a large amount of tension. Usually these devices were manned by 2-3 people. One person could do it but not very effectively.
The show was adequate enough. He only got off 2 shots and you could see him struggle to winch it back.
Yep. And that arrow looked like it weighed a good couple pounds. Maybe even 10 pounds.

Wasnt aware 10 lbs is some huge weight to you.
So let's say the arrow weighed just one pound. That's it. That's about 15x more than the arrows often used with compound bows.
This would make it easier for him to get the arrow back?

Looked online and did this comparison:
Compound bows
- draw weight is usually 50-80 lbs
- Single man (obviously)
- They shoot up to 60 yards (effectively)
- Average arrow size is 25-27 (just over 2 feet) inches at a weight of 18 grams
Ballista
- Draw weight average was at 4,500-4,700 lbs.
- They were often crewed by 2 or 3 men.
- They'd shoot up to 500 yards (300-350 yards effectively)
- Ballista bolt was 4 to 6 feet long and weighed up to 10 pounds.
He does not need to get it back lol. He just lays it in the groove.

But I still refuse to believe a lake drops off that drastically, idc about fantasy or fiction.
Yeah, obv this is fiction so stuff is taken at liberty.
We can either assume Bronn has super human strength or that the maester engineered some way that made it be able to be manned by 1 person. The bow clearly traveled, at least least seemingly, further than 500 yards, so we assume the latter and that the maester is an engineering genius.
In conclusion, the arrow doesnt weigh that much and Wes is a dumbass.
