Maybe you're right. Maybe they did single him out for trading presciptions for sex.
I never said that.

I never said that.
Really?
I thought you were super pissed that they discriminated against this dude for his motel shenanigans. Weird
Nothing about prescriptions for sex.
That's good, because despite this dude being convicted of trading drugs for sex from one of his young patients it would be false to spin it in a way to make it appear that United had singled him out for that reason.
I've moved on to talk about this issue generally.
Yeah but it is based on price paid (or effectively how much money you have and what seats you can afford), and whether or not you have a frequent flyer status (again based on how often you can afford to fly).
This is like the sinking of the Titanic all over again. You're in first class you have a place in the life boat, you're in third class you go down with the ship.
There is no issue, not with the airline at least. This dude is a narcissistic prick. Cops may have used excessive force off camera but then again maybe not.
So, how much you paid for your seat, I think what they mean there is if you got a discounted ticket. Someone who paid full price has a slightly bigger claim to keep their seat over someone who got a discount. And I don't think rich people pay full price and poor people get discounts, if anything it's usually the opposite.
They also consider connecting flights, unaccompanied minors, people with special needs, etc., etc.. It's not a class distinction, at least it doesn't seem like it to me.
And using the word discriminatory, there are certain kinds of discrimination that are bad, but the word and act is not bad in and of itself. It means to recognize a distinction; differentiate. We all do it all the time 24/7/365.
Why do you bring up financial status there. It has nothing to do with how far in advance a person buys their ticket. So we all know if you buy the tickets in advance you can get them cheaper. So for example if a guy who isn't well off and buys a ticket for $100 and bought it 6 months in advance, gets compared to a guy who bought the ticket last week for $200 because he can afford it, then the guy who bought it 6 months ago gets kicked off the plan?
I don't know about you but to me that's not fair.

And you may not know, but it's not as simple as how fast in advance you buy. The price changes hour by hour, day by day.
