What's new

Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Why do you assume they will be less effective than hood?
Couldnt we move the ball better and run the offense better and get better and more efficient shots without him?
Is that not a possibility? If not, then this was a very strange trade indeed and DL must be a dummy

Hood didn't play out of the system and he was our best creator outside of Mitchell. He had to take those shots because he was our best option at the time. They will be less effective because they are less versatile and talented offensively than Hood.

DL isn't a dummy because Hood wanted out, had injuries and would be paid this offseason.

I think we will be fine without hood. We will get better shots and be more efficient.

Also, this notion that more usage means than that efficiency automatically would be worse, therefore mediocre efficiency is actually great due to type of shots taken isn't always true.
Some players efficiency go up when they are asked to do more. They prefer having the ball in their hands and when they have a bigger role.
Last year hoods role was smaller and he was asked to do less and create less and his efficiency was worse.
Rubio seems to be more efficient when having the ball more and asked to do more offensively
Burks most efficient year was when he was getting lots of minutes, lots of touches and being asked to do more in the offense.

Some guys are less efficient when they just stand on the three point line waiting for a pass for an open shot. So the notion that a players efficiency would improve if asked to do less and get more assisted shot attempts isn't always true.
Maybe royce will improve if he is used more like hood was and be more efficient at the role hood was in. We don't know yet. We will soon find out though. I'm optimistic.

Our record without hood? 10-5.

And 9 of those wins were against teams with winning records.

I like Hood - I've always been a sucker for players who can fill it up on every given night. But the negatives are glaring.

He seems to have two modes: 100% healthy or injured/not playing.
He can't get to the line with any regularity so unless he's hitting his jumper he can become a liability.
Mediocre defender (although not as horrible as some folks are making him out to be)
Gets shut down by good defense unless he's hitting lights out.
And, the worst part, doesn't play well with DM. And this is going to be DM's team.

Collectively, all of the above makes you around a 10-12 mil a year guy. And I'm certain Hood would have demanded more as an RFA.

This is a solid win for DL. Not a grand slam; but at least a ground rule double, lol.

Translation- here comes Mirotic bitches.
Let’s all hold hands and pray. However, I’m not certain they’ll part with him. Unclear if they’ll bring back Boogie (???) and Mirotic is their third best player possibly, making it easier to transition Boogie back from injury. They’ll be under the cap in total dollars before resigning Boogie and won’t be at the LT. I just see them holding on to him.

On the flip side, should they deal him, they won’t have an expectation that they can get much return for him. They’d probably hold out wanting Crowder, tbpfhwy.

I haven't been able to wade through the whole thread. I thought it was interesting that recently 1280 was talking about players only playing when they were 100% due to pressure from agents to keep stats high. They didn't specifically say hood did this, but hood's frequent missed games brought up the topic. Feels like they were greasing the skids now.

For the record I believe Crowder has a chance to be a better contract value. I also believe it was the best we were going to do and I don't believe we wanted to re-sign him.

I have to say it... I feel a little less sure of this trade this morning. Crowder better snap back soon.
