January 26 2021: Should The Jazz Even Be Allowed To Play The Knicks?

I have sent the following letter to Commissioner Adam Silver:

Dear Adam,

Hello. My name is MeloTheJazzKiller and because I am from New York, I know basketball. I understand that all sports commissioners want parity in their leagues, but I must point out that the NBA does not have parity. The NBA has a few elite teams (Lakers, Nets, Clippers, and the Knicks) and the rest are bottom feeders (the Pistons, Timberwolves, the Jazz).

On January 26 the bottom feeder Jazz are scheduled to play the elite Knicks. No basketball fan on Earth wants to see this. The Knicks already slaughtered the Jazz this year. The bottom-feeder Jazz do not deserve to be on the same court as an elite team like the Knicks.

Basketball fans demand that on January 26 you schedule the Knicks vs the Lakers and schedule the Jazz vs. Oswego Community College.

Signed,
Melo The Jazz Killer

PS: Zion Williamson and Donovan Mitchell should be playing for the Knicks. See what you can do about that.
Never change. :)

The lowly Knicks? I guess you were in suspended animation the past month. I'll fill you in on some details you missed:
- Biden sworn in as new President on January 20.
- Knicks beat the Holy Hell out of the Jazz on January 6.

Believe it, you don't want to play us tomorrow. You should send your letters to Adam Silver now. Get him to cancel the game. We will slaughter you again.

Let's set aside the fan-boy hyperbole for a moment. Julius Randle is the best player in the NBA right now. Leading candidate for league MVP by a mile. How the hell are you going to stop him?
According to this, he is the 16th most impactful player in the NBA according to this particular stat:

And according to this, he is "leading" his team to a losing record:

And according to this Randle isn't even in the top 10 of MVP candidates this season:

You should have kept Kanter. He is performing better than Randle. Kanter PER - 25.5 (#14); Randle PER - 20.6 (#37). And Kanter has lead his team to a better record than the Knicks.

, at half-time of the game on the 26th of January, 2021.

Nah, I see you don't know history. Though the quote is wrongly attributed to Nikita Khrushchev, it was actually Coach Thibodeau who is famous for this quote which he said before both games against the Jazz:

Uhh, you really don't see the irony in that statement?
No irony.

Jazz, record 12-4, don't need him at all. Better without him.

Knicks, record 8-12, LOSING HARD in an easy eastern conference, need Kanter BAD, especially with Randle stinking it up. Don't cry though, Thibs is a good coach and your defense is getting better. You might be just6-8 games under .500 by the end of the season, and in the east that will be good enough for an 8th seed.

Don't cry though, Thibs is a good coach ...and in the east that will be good enough for an 8th seed.

8th seed? Spoken like a true bottom feeder. No wonder why the Jazz have never won a Championship, you folks are happy with eighth seed. Knick fans spit on eighth seed. My Knicks are aiming for not one, not two, not three, not four, not five....we are looking at multiple championships.

That a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long view to get to a Knicks championship. You and your children's children will be long dead. It'll probably be in the days of Futurama. Both 1000 years in the future and fictional.

Let's put all joking aside and let's talk seriously about tomorrow night's game.

I know and you know that the Jazz are dreading tomorrow's game. Gobert does not want to go against Mitchell Robinson. Your coach does not want to be publicly schooled by our coach Thibs. Donovan Mitchell does not want to play a poor game that will lead to a far lower salary the Knicks will be paying him next year. Face it, you have one loss in your last nine games....who gave you that loss? The Knicks humiliated you on January 6. We made fools of you. You don't want that again.

Who knows. Maybe we lose by 40 and the win the next ten games.

Could be the Knicks get bunched up sorta tight and all they can do is scratch their balls.

We don't play to verify the status quo, we play to change it.
