Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Its hard to imagine these players being the hold up for NY. The deal really doesn't seem like too much especially when you compare it with the Rudy trade. I guess I could see some of the hold up being protections or something that NY wants to work through today. I think it's close and I wouldn't expect this package to need to change much to get done.
I think they are concerned with the short term and want to make sure they have a team left to be good next year. The front office wants to keep their jobs. I think you look at the roster after the trade and they would really need guys like Grimes. They have no 3 and D guy unless Barrett starts shooting the ball. I think Reddish is basically done there.

We could also do them a solid and throw in a Bogey for Rose/Fournier to keep as much draft equity as possible.

I hope you're right, I just keep hearing from seemingly everyone in national media that Brunson and Don is a silly backcourt and that it doesn't make them a premier team in the East.
The sentiment I keep hearing now is "its not ideal but you get the star and figure it out". Which is different than what I heard before.

I think the Shams report yesterday about it taking days, weeks, months is from the Jazz side of things saying "we will be here all day... so might as well just pony up". I think its a slight bluff.

I really want Cam Reddish in the deal. I think he has more potential than he has shown.
He for sure ends up in the deal. Bigger salary and Thibs clearly hates him. Allows the Knicks to save face a bit by putting him in there.

If that’s the deal and we get Obi over Quickley I’ll be very happy.
I'd be fine with this deal with either Obi or Quickley, though I'd rather have Obi as well.

Ultimately I just want this deal done, though not at the expense of it being a lousy deal.

One small thing in this deal to watch... NY has a good amount of second round picks. I might try and snake a couple of those as minor as it sounds. I think some of our guys like JC, Bogey, Vando could net firsts but some might need a second with them to get a first... I would try to sneak a couple of those to grease the wheels on those deals.
