Jazz are emerging as serious threats to sign Bojan Bogdanovic

Favors has been a consummate professional. Came off bench behind Jefferson and Millsap, played on injured leg in playoffs a couple of years ago, and stood in for Gobert when he was injured. I will root for him wherever he ends up (unless it’s the Lakers!).

He was out of shape for most of his time with us. He's evolved into a consummate professional though.

I had heard that the pacers have an amount of money they can't go over though.

That's correct. And it's nearly identical to what we can offer. Jazz can go about $1M higher by shedding Niang, Neto and Bradley - at least that's what I read.

Indiana is capped at what they can offer because of Early Bird rights: 175% of his current salary = $18,375,000. However, Early Bird allows them to offer 8% raise in first year. I believe Utah can offer a little over $19M but with 5% increases. So not a whole lot of difference.

And that's probably a good sign a meeting is being held. It's not an attempt to get a mega deal from Indiana. On the other hand, he has to want to make a change that won't be money motivated.

Yeah. Imagine a favors career with much higher level offseason strength and conditioning program. He could have had a much better career and sidestepped injuries. coulda woulda shoulda .

Can Indy offer him that same amount if they were to sign Rubio?

This is the proposition then. Is Bogdanovic trying to get Indiana to give him a similar offer to what Utah will give him, or is he really interested in coming to Utah. I think the ceiling for the Jazz with him on the team is much higher than that Pacers team, but the Pacers are still a very good team and it is hardly a bad situation. Really is going to have to be because he chooses the Jazz over the Pacers, we won't be able to offer a radically better contract, at most only a marginally better one. Would be a huge moment in Jazz franchise history to sell a guy like him on this. And a huge endorsement to the core Conley, Mitchell, and Gobert. Means big free agents look at that core and believe in it.

I have a feeling, and you can quote me on this, that O'Neale will start in place of Ingles by the end of the year. Ingles would be able to run the 2nd unit with Exum. We have plenty of playmakers with Conley, Mitchell and Bojan so having a work horse like O'Neale fits the starting lineup better.

I'm thinking Miye Oni and Jarrell Brantley can crack the rotation by the latter part of the season.
