Oh ****, well I'm a dummy then. Thanks for setting me straight.Nope.
The Jazz can absorb Conley’s salary outright if need be. Teams under the cap don’t have to match outgoing salaries with incoming salaries.

Assuming we land one of them yes. But I am okay with that. Those improve us enough to be worth it. Although I think we could clear enough to keep Favors and sign Russell. But if not we can find another PF and backup C no problem.I’m with you there (although it once again requires walking from Favors). I’m not sure the Jazz has that luxury, especially since other teams are probably thinking the same thing (particularly Boston).
Break it down for me... How does he provide the Jazz the massive upgrade? Its not in points, its not in size, its not in assists, not athleticism, its not in rebounds. Everyone is talking like he's freaking batman... Does he beat people with his outwit ability? He looks like a really good savvy veteran to me, he looks like he can be difficult for opposing players at times because hes left handed. He doesn't look like a superstar to me, but that is how he is being discussed. How many superstar players are on 30 win teams?
I agree, and maybe that's just the fan in me who wants to enjoy the free agency period thinking we have a chance at guys. But I also don't see what leverage the Grizzlies really have to make us do it now.I really would rather us look into Conley after FA. That might not be an option though. Russell and or Tobias would be much better options for the Jazz. Conley is a good option after that.
Their leverage is that they are going to trade him to another team draft day regardless. So we miss out on him and he isnt an option later. That sounds like what they might do. Get the best deal they can for him on draft day. I am guessing they want picks and they want to make the pick.I agree, and maybe that's just the fan in me who wants to enjoy the free agency period thinking we have a chance at guys. And while I like the Conley addition, I'm not going to be furious if we don't get him or something. As much as LoPo and others overstate it, there are legitimate flags that would have me going into next year pretty nervous if we went all in on him.
This is correct.Except you aren't choosing between Harris, Conley, or Dlo. You are choosing between Conley and a CHANCE of Harris or DLo. One is a sure damn thing, With the others, we need to sacrifice first, THEN see what we get. Like a freaking scratcher ticket. If you have the opportunity to guarantee yourself a third titan, you do it, especially if the other options aren't guaranteed. Also, right now, Conley is the better player of the three.
He won as many games as Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday, so they can’t be all that great either.Break it down for me... How does he provide the Jazz the massive upgrade? Isnt that only if we can stay under the cap with the incoming salary? We cant absorb him outright unless we include Exum and Bradley, Ingles, or waive Favors. We only have 16 million cap room if we give up the cap holds on everyone. Conley is 26 million.Nope.

Meh, I'm not interested in getting into a bidding war. If someone wants to beat our offer then let them do it. That page is a mess. I use http://www.shamsports.com/capulator and would recommend everyone else does.Isnt that only if we can stay under the cap with the incoming salary? You’re going to have to prove that.
Tony Jones tweets today scream of the Jazz keeping Favs if they do trade for Conley.
Nowhere in that article did it prove that his agent came out and said Conley didn’t want to come here. This is not some minor detail.Multiple sources confirmed it. https://www.deseretnews.com/article...does-not-want-to-get-traded-to-utah-jazz.htmlhttps://www.deseretnews.com/article...does-not-want-to-get-traded-to-utah-jazz.html
Conley did the PR move and refuted it, but the agent said it.
It works if you renounce the rights to Neto, Udoh, & Rubio. Then include Exum, Korver, & Bradley and the 2019 first. Not sure how that’s gonna work... have to cobble together like 26M in salary... can’t really do it unless the guarantee Korver, Neto, and include them both... I’m not sure that is even enough.

That makes no sense and I’m increasingly doubtful that Tony Jones knows what the hell he’s talking about half the time.Tony Jones tweets today scream of the Jazz keeping Favs if they do trade for Conley.
