Jazz front runner for Conley

Tony Jones tweets today scream of the Jazz keeping Favs if they do trade for Conley.

Not sure how that’s gonna work... have to cobble together like 26M in salary... can’t really do it unless the guarantee Korver, Neto, and include them both... I’m not sure that is even enough.

Nowhere in that article did it prove that his agent came out and said Conley didn’t want to come here. This is not some minor detail.

I’m familiar with what went on at the trade deadline. Your assertions regarding this are simply, factually incorrect. At least to this point.

He won as many games as Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday, so they can’t be all that great either.

So AD played like half the year and yeah I wouldn’t call Holiday a superstar. I didn’t say I don’t think Conley isn’t all that great, I said I don’t think he’s a superstar like everyone is talking about. He’s like a fringe all star kinda like Hayward so far in his career... hell I think Hayward is probably a better player than Conley and he’s what 4 or 5 years younger?

So you are calling 2 reporters liars who both corroborated the other's account of the conversation with the agent?

And why would two reporters come out of nowhere on the same exact day to quote the exact agent the exact same quote?

We just saw the Lakers who are like free agent destination #1 historically opt for the certainty of the AD trade even though they could have had significant cap space... but we think we should pass on the guy with almost the ideal perfect skill set that we need because maybe we can win in free agency. If the Conley deal is there at a reasonable cost... then you absolutely do it without hesitation.

It wasn’t a quote.

Making a public statement is vastly different than making comments in private.

They were talking about a hot topic around the trade deadline and facts regarding these things are exceptionally rare. I also don’t find Marc Stein to be tier 1 of basketball journalists or whoever else was saying that stuff (which by the way is a tired narrative, and also even if true doesn’t have to remain true anyway).

Mike Conley later came out and said that wasn’t true.

That makes no sense and I’m increasingly doubtful that Tony Jones knows what the he he’s talking about half the time.

Only way it works is after free agency with cap space... would be tricky to do even with the space if we guarantee Favs. Maybe he’s not “in” the trade but we waive him to do it.

If they figure it out then I’m cool keeping Favs even though I think a stretch works better almost always... DL just can’t quit Favs I guess.

I disagree. I think it makes all the sense in the world. I've posted this several times but I'll keep posting it. This trade works:

Jazz renounce the rights to Neto, Udoh, Rubio, & Sefolosha. They send Exum, Bradley, Korver, & 2019 1st round pick. The Jazz then receive Conley in return and keep Derrick Favors.
