Off-Season Rumblings

I really hope these rumors are just throwing the Jazz in there for fun and we haven't actually expressed real interest in most of these guys. My faith in this FO is super low right now.
We have cap space and assets and were **** the last 2 years and our GM said he's going big game hunting. Everyone needs to be expected to be connected to every single rumor anyone can think up right now.

I’m convinced of three things:
1 - Danny is going to at least call on every star-level player who might be available
2 - The other team is going to leak Utah’s “interest” to try and drive the price up on their guys, when actual offers may or may not have actually happened
3 - The only smoke I’m believing is that the Jazz want to use 29+32 to trade up
This will be what our *checks notes* third time trying to get Harris? I'd say the interest is probably legit. Math adds up that we finally get our hands on someone we've been after as they're talent dries up.
Bridges I wouldn't mind depending on the cost.

Detroit tanked like crazy for Wemby and then dropped to 5th in the lottery. Dropped to 5th two years in a row, actually. That can be pretty demoralizing.
We land 5th in the 2025 draft and no one will be demoralized. Okay maybe some will… but there will be less overall demoralization. As a utilitarian I think that is a better course of action for now.

And yet the 5th pick is a much better position then the 9th or 10th position lol
Not necessarily. Maybe you get a better player at 5th than 9th or 10th or maybe you get the better player at 9th or 10th than 5th. Either way you definitely have a worse team if you are picking 5th than if you are picking 10th and therefore need more to be a contender.

Last year when we went on that run was pretty demoralizing since after that we made tank moves and I thought to myself why not do this before the season? Then we did something like win 5 games the rest of the year. Lol

Sure falling from 1 to 5 would’ve sucked but it would’ve passed. And 5 is still better than 10

But that’s what Utah wanted and that was clear after the tanking moves they made at the deadline in each of the last two years. Knowing that wouldn’t you rather have the 5th pick instead of having the 10th?

Not Miles, but apparently its Mikal this time around.
So its the new jersey dude this time around right?
I would be cool with getting him depending on cost. I would give up a decent player and 2 firsts.

Just no way to know.
Will be interesting to see if ausar thompson is better or worse than Hendricks in 4 years. I have no idea who will be better but I say its a decent chance that hendricks (the 10th pick) is better than Ausar (the 5th pick) in 4 years. Also, for us to get to that 5th pick we would have had to be much worse so we would have no sexton or lauri or something to get there. I prefer to have sexton, lauri and possibly the better player in the 2023 draft. Im greedy I guess.

Look, if you are actually tanking you dont want to appear like you are actually tanking. You are going to have your name in rumors about acquiring players, stop being so damn dramatic.

Are the 6-7 extra wins that take you from 25 to 32 so amazing you want to reduce your chances of top 4 pick by 50% and also pick 3-5 spots lower than you could have. The draft slot difference alone is worth at least another first in most drafts if you move back. I get that Detroit exists… so does SA and OKC.

I think as Jazz fans we've been programmed to have a loser mentality and assume that any luck based outcome will result in a loss for us.

Rumors aren’t the issue to be clear.
