Omnibus Gordon Hayward Thread (To clean up the Board some)

The Jazz will not match. Remember my little visit with Jerry Sloan? Not to sound like a tool, but I suddenly find myself with a very good "insider" (not Jerry, duh) who is more than willing to share their info.

Quote this and tell me I'm an idiot, or whatever, but you heard it here first: DL put the bait out there, MJ took it, and now all is well. We will not match Hayward.

Just thought you'd all like to know.

And why couldn't a $12M/yr Hayward be traded along with filler for a true max superstar?
I know if i were okc and looking to trade durant i would think:

12 million dollar hayward plus filler > 16 million dollar hayward.

A fun story. But why wouldn't DL simply try to work a trade earlier on if he knew Gtime was history? What's in it for Utah if he gets paid by Charlotte?

Dear Crybabies, Let Me Poop in Your Pool

Parsons is going to get 15 + mm a yr with the Mavs. Hayward is the better all around player, and is the guy we drafted. Hayward's 16mm yr and Parsons 15 mm yr is what happens when the cap explodes, coupled with more than half the league having money to spend.

Dry your eyes, go get a bucket, and scoop out my turd before it starts to separate.

:)

I have no idea who, what, where, or why, just that they aren't matching. If you look at it from this point of view, DL was a master poker player, timed his "statements" (that he may or may not have said) perfectly, and got rid of a guy whom we all know has performed well below expectations. It has been fun reading this thread though, especially all the morons (sojodave) who think DL is soooooo stupid!!1, when in reality, he has kicked major quantities of *** so far. As a fan base, we're not used to this kind covert shenanigan. I approve.

I don't really care if Hayward stays or goes, but some y'all (pointing at you, GVC) need to realize that overpaying players is a utility. Teams like the Lakers use it well while everyone else ignores the advantages.
1. The Jazz have not historically been a team that could consistently go way into LT territory. The Lakers, Blazers, Nets, Knicks, Mavs, etc. are in a different league in terms of the potential damage of acquiring/signing players for way above their on-court value.

2. With contracts capped at 4 or 5 years, why would a team trade a true superstar for a wildly overpaid role player? Precedent?

3. What the hell is a "utility"?

Why did DL need to bait someone into taking him off our hands?

Push up the price everyone has to pay for guys like Parson $15millionlolz? Waste everyone's cap space then swoop in for the bargains.
