Yes, that was always the plan, long before the free agency period started. That whether he signed there or not, he'd do that out of respect for the organization.

Yeah, Kawhi was taking FA meetings in LA. If he then flew back to Toronto, he's almost certainly staying with the Raptors and is preparing to make his announcement so the city can celebrate with him.

Yes, he's giving Toronto the final pitch, but I thought the pitch was supposed to take place in LA. The Raptors are pitching him. He's not going to fly back to Canada so they can give him a 2-hour presentation.
 
Here’s an angle....

If he chooses Toronto, he’s ruined everyone in LA’s Fourth of July. If he chooses an LA team, he’s ruined nobody’s Fourth of July in Toronto.

Sounds reasonable to me. If he does a 1+1 the clips will wait on him and he can get 10 year vet max and defend his title. I'd meet with Toronto and get a wink wink agreement that if he tears his Achilles that they will still offer him the 5 year max if he signs the 1+1.
 
Just looked at the list of leftover free agents... Lakers are ****ed if they don't get Kawhi...

They can probably get some combo of Cousins, Danny Green, and KCP... maybe Marcus Morris... the FA bucket has been really picked over. Danny Green may get a big offer from Dallas, so they might be looking at KCP, Cousins, Morris... maybe they can trade some picks for players... oh wait...
