Reps... What's the point!!!

BTW, your mission on behalf of others is quite sweet.

Just like the fight for equal rights..

You don't have to be black to be against Jim Crow laws...
You don't have to be Homosexual to be against for legalizing same sex marriage...
You don't have to be a high in rep power to be against Rep Power Cap...

The logic behind it is to keep people within a striking distance of others. I suppose it's like a curve in school. If we get one person at 10k and the rest of the community is less than 150, how fun is that? I assume over time the cap will be increased as the population gets closer to the higher end or limit.

That said, the argument could be made to let it be and allow people to roam as high as they can. For now, this is what was chosen.

I'm not sure there's a right answer so banter away.

Thanks for the reply... Still wish there was no cap!!!

You need to get either Slim or Leroy Brown on your side, stuff will happen.

Oh, and read the bold. That what you meant to say, or did Dr. Freud visit you?

If the site is going to limit the amount of rep power one can accumulate why even have the system??

There is no point and it doesn't mean anything. It only does when you prescribe meaning to it. For instance, the karma system on Reddit means something to a lot of people. To others it means nothing.

Since Ive been back, I havent liked or repped anyone. Modificationers can verify.

Why? Because it's all garbage.

Why would you not like to be appreciated? I think even knowing that the reputation voting system means something to the majority of the community, you could at least know that people take time to express their interest or opposing in or to your post with spending something they value on you, even if that value is worthless outside this forum, it is in here. At least for many of the posters even if not for you. And that maybe should make it valuable for you in a way. Or else how could we call it a community, right?

Life only has meaning when you prescribed meaning to it.

Rep being in this site means it has meaning, wether or not you subscribe to it.... When you limits it's summit without any reward, then it begins to loses it's validity!!!

Zulu used to pos!!! pre!!!!!!y damn good subs!!!ance bu!!! for the las!!! year or so he's been jaded. I blame it on Jason's rep changes.

It's funny how a red rep is noticed a lot more than a pos rep. If you can't be part of the cool kids, well, neg them.

Hehepeepeecaca.

You have the worst rep to post ratio. Did you get banned several times?

I do like to be appreciated, sure, but maybe it's because I'm from a different generation, I dont prescribe that much importance to the rep system of an online message board. I hear what you're saying and I understand your position.

I'd rather interact directly, in the open, rather than through the rep system.

Me as well. Words are much more important than votes. Quality over quantitiy. Nut that does not make them worthless to me. I understand that you find them overrated and feel confident that you are right. They are. But they do also have a meaning. Just not so much important as they are for kkk. ;)

I like you Addict. You're one of the better posters here on the board.

Is there any way we can see the sum/count of reputation awarded, instead of/in addition to the rep power?
