Reputation Comments, positive and negative

If you really think I'm Hopper then as a mod you can do something about it.
But if you don't believe it then you are lying...by your own logic.

That's a nice spin, but I didn't say you were Hopper, or that I believed you were Hopper. I merely drew a comparison.

Let me clarify on the paraphrasing. I was asking the mod if there were the same standards for everyone when it came to death wishes after witnessing the conversation between Sloanfeld and the mods and this is the exact quote I got back:

FWIW, I interpreted the infraction for wishing death on Sloan, while the other mods seemed to interpret the infraction for him making an anti-homosexual remark [part removed as to not give away identity] But I'm willing to report those comments for you and we'll see what happens. Also FWIW, standards aren't necessarily the same or different for everyone, but those who aren't chronic offenders don't receive the same "punishment" as those who are.

OK, so that was talking about Sloanfeld's situation, not about our discussion on your reported rep comments. We didn't have a discussion at the time about what parts of his statement were more offensive then others, so that moderator was just offering his/her opinion about the discussion that had taken place.

Well, the policy is that moderators don't HAVE to tell users the outcome, not that they CAN'T. Although, I will admit, there may well be times when we decide that it not really anyone's business but the person who got the infraction.

So my only unsigned neg reps were from BOX, Dwill_pwnrexguy and Kicky. Yep, not shocked at all. I think Kicky has an inferiority complex or something.

My reported rep comments were similar in nature to the one Sloanfeld got an infraction for, which is why I thought it applied to my rep comments as well.

I just found it ridiculous that I was refused the outcome because they "didn't know" whether they could tell me or not. Why couldn't they do me the courtesy of finding out whether they could and telling me that. It was like going down a rabbit hole. You can see why I assumed the outcome was something the moderators wanted to hide.

I really doubt a moderator told you "I don't know if I can tell you the outcome." If so he/she was confused. We have a general policy that we don't feel obligated to tell people the results of their reports, but there's no policy saying moderators CAN'T tell people the results.

FWIW, I believe she was referring to something I sent. Here is what I said:

I don't know if I'm supposed to tell anyone what infractions/warnings others have got. You can ask them for all that I care. Same with the voting

And since I'm the newest mod, you are correct in the sense that I didn't know the specific policy there, so I decided to error on the side of caution.

I'm also seriously doubting this statement of yours: "I was told privately that all but one of the mods didn't care about it unless it had a homosexual slur attached."

That could also be something I said, though I did not say that at all. I said this:

FWIW, I interpreted the infraction for wishing death on (so and so), while the other mods seemed to interpret the infraction for him making an anti-homosexual remark (I am the one who wrote his warning).

Perhaps I could have been more specific and said "some of the other mods" but I was not making the claim that all of the other mods did not care unless it was an anti-homosexual remark.

I don't find it ridiculous. I truly didn't know the policy there, and frankly I don't feel any obligation to tell anyone what infractions other people have got.
