Rookie Contract Power Rankings

I dont think Key is struggling anymore. Last game was rough but once Hardy cut his role down he has been much better.
He plays very good when he is not forcing anything and shooting/driving to the basket only when there is some mismatch or the defensive breakdown. He can become an efficient 17-18 PPG, 5 APG guard... but I think he pictures himself as a main character. And I am really not sure that he can ever be a main character on a non-tanking team.

His November is trending to be the best calendar month of his career:
PPG 16.3 (2nd best month of career). Best last season was 16.4 (March)
APG is 5.1 (3rd best). Best last season was 5.4 (both November and February)
His TO is 2.1 (2nd best*). Last season his best was 1.6 (February)
His 3P% is 38.4 (2nd best). Last season he had a seriously hot shooting month in February (42.1%). However this month he is shooting more 3PA he has ever shot, so the 38.4 is encouraging.

* He did have just 4 TO in 4 games in October last year, but that was on super low usage and low minutes.

“Right now” was probably the wrong words by me, but I’m more speaking to the fact that he’s objectively been one of the worst in the NBA this year. I’m looking at his full body of work. He is shooting and playing better recently so I’ll give him credit for that.

Yeah he shouldnt be playing 30mpg, and he is probably pretty high on the "worst ever 30 ppg guys" rankings. Not at the top, but at a disrespectable standing.

However I do think the PGOTF experiment is either over or on a break. Hardy has not put him out there to initiate as many plays per game recently, and Key gets to play his own game more. I think that has unlocked him a bit.

cody is looking worse and worse. they need to bench him, move him to G league, really develop his lower body as his legs look like twigs and rework his shooting mechanics. they have to speed up his outside shot. if the jazz do this they might be able to make him an NBA player.

The sad thing is how easy it looks for the defenders to guard him.

  1. Walker Kessler
  2. Keyonte George
  3. Kyle Filipowski
  4. Brice Sensabaugh
  5. Isaiah Collier
  6. Cody Williams
Walker still in the lead because he's the most impactful player with the best chance of realizing his potential.

Keyonte is #2. Looks very talented and like a good PG in the PNR, but man, his struggles on D and just general ball-handling are extremely worrisome.

Flip is 3 despite being out as of late.

Brice moves into 4 with his hot shooting. His defense is bad, but no awful awful. Just wish he was a better decision maker. One of the worst passers on the team.

Collier is 5th. He looks like he mostly sucks, but I see the potential on both ends.

Cody is last because he plays like a limp noodle and hasnt shown much upside.

Good news, all of them look like they can be rotation level players. Bad news, only Keyonte has shown star level potential so far

I agree with your list with one exception. Elaborate on what you are liking with Keyonte. I am not seeing a "good PG" because of his ball handling (and decision making) and his shooting percentages continue to be as bad as they were in college. He has an occasional good game.

He's looked great in the PNR to me.
