What's new

Stein: Utah is telling teams Hayward is unavailable.

If you don't know if Gordon is leaving, I like the move to hold onto him and be confident in your team's appeal in order to extend him.
If you trade him away one year before the contract is up, you're basically telling the rest of the team you're not confident in your team's ability to compete for unrestricted free agents. Which will make others think if the team is ever gonna be a contender, as management will flip stars for assets whenever a contract year is coming.

If he's indicated he's leaving anyways, you trade him and communicate it like this to the team. Not to the fanbase. Someone in the team is gonna talk anyways to the media/fanbase about Gordon being unhappy.

A lot of pressure on Exum's shoulders now if no other playmaker is signing a contract in free agency.

Dirk didn't opt out to leave. He's been pretty vocal about saying how he's given them discounts, but if they don't put a good team around him this year, he wants more money, but he wants it from Dallas.

Did he tell you this? Not to be a jerk, but you simply don't know that. However, I get the same impression and I don't think Dirk will leave Dallas.

Having said that, if he is doing this to leverage the Mavs to go all in this offseason and they don't, will he leave? I do think that's a possibility, given that GS has already expressed interest. If GS can't get Durant, I imagine they will go after Dirk aggressively. And if they do, there's no way he stays in Dallas, IMO.

Sources say the Celtics are one of just a number of teams trying to convince Utah to surrender Hayward — Phoenix, which holds two lottery picks (No. 4 and 13) in Thursday’s draft, is another — but the Jazz have been telling interested teams that he is not available. - Hoopshype

League sources tell hoopscritic.com that the Utah Jazz are actively trying to trade Gordon Hayward.

This dude has been posting bs on Twitter all day. He posted a rumor about Memphis and John hollinger himself replied that he is full of **** and that if he keeps blindly posting rumors maybe one day he will get one right.

If the offer is right and can help you have a higher ceiling, always consider it. It all depends on how far DL honestly see's this core going. I won't lie, I trust our front office especially in the draft. I don't think for one second they would let Hayward walk for nothing. If that was the case the more probable will be he builds value now and then waits till the deadline.

The jazz are not looking to make a trade? Jazz will most likely pretty much stand pat this off-season and bake the cake? Weird. Jazz are usually movers and shakers that make lots of moves during the off-season.

I'm all for trading Hayward for draft picks but only way I do so for a 2016 pick is if it's #1 or #2

I have heard people say that bender is lumped in with simmons and ingram. A 3 person draft in other words.
Personally i have no idea if that is right or not, just something i have heard.
