When it comes to a player like Garrison Matthews, I don't consider it. I never have. I've never held it against Langston Galloway either. So when you bring those guys up, you're talking to a wall because that argument was never made. I've used it in certain situations where I think it does mean something, but there's really no point in bringing up counter examples when I literally said it doesn't matter to me in that situation. I'm agreeing with you. You shouldn't hold it against Matthews or Galloway and no one ever did. This is like asking someone an employee why they're unemployed and them responding by saying that they had other responsibilities or just needed a break. That should mean nothing as far as their candidacy. You also shouldn't assume that just because someone is unemployed that there's a bad reason for it. That's why it's not a concern for Galloway or Matthews for me. I can see how they got lost in the shuffle. If it was someone like Shaq, I might assume that they're actually mulling offers because he's too strong of a candidate to not have offers.

In Dunn's case, I didn't have a good feeling on his health to begin with. I read about his injuries and recovery which made me really concerned. I'm well aware that team's could misevaluate his health, but I do believe that his current health and fitness level is what's keeping him from having a team. When all NBA teams (who have way more intel on his current situation) seemingly make that evaluation on his status it does strengthen my concerns. I hope he's healthy and for his own sake, but I'm not optimistic about it. This is more like if there was a well known problem about a potential candidate. Not only is this problem well known, but you know that your competitors and/or parties that know more about the situation did not offer.

I mean in my original post I didn’t isolate you… you got defensive and jumped in fella… so use whatever logic you need to to convince yourself of whatever the hell you are trying to say. It’s not anything I’d ever use to evaluate or any assumption I’d make.

For me, the argument isn’t Forrest vs Dunn. Instead, it’s Oni versus Dunn, THEN let Forrest and Dunn battle it out. If Dunn never earned a minute, that’d be totally fine with me. But Oni is done as far as I’m concerned; no question that Dunn gives us potential that we currently do not possess.

There’s also the issue of Q’s willingness to use situational defenders in short substitution patterns. If he’s not going to do this, then it doesn’t matter what we say about any of this ****, tbpfhwy.

Also, if we’re going to invest this much time in Forrest, then we better convert him from a two-way so that we can use him in the playoffs, if absolutely necessary. And, as soon as we see that this is even a remotely possible scenario, I want to see some extra leash extended so that he can really experiment with his forcefulness on both sides of the ball. Encourage that experimentation, pls. Especially on defense.

I don’t know… he essentially comes in and tries not to **** up. It’s a sound strategy and Shaq was kinda spazzy on offense. I think he’s just a fine defender whereas I think Shaq and Dunn are disruptive and likely more effective… but trying to be disruptive might lead to **** ups and Quin cant tolerate that. Maybe it’s a Quin issue. I’m fine with Forrest over Shaq. I think Dunn is a whole next level of defender from both of them if healthy. I’d much rather have Galloway on the roster and would have him playing ahead of Forrest. I’ve started seeing the defenders sag way off him… will only get worse as he turns down or missed more shots and it may make him unplayable in the playoffs (if we have injuries). I just don’t see him as having that much upside because I’m not a believer in his jumper at all.
 
I don’t believe in Forrest’s long term potential either, and by long term I mean once teams do any scouting on him, but we’re at least playing well in his minutes which could not be said last year. He’s doing a good job and his PT is getting more justifiable.

Having said that I still think it should be Butler. Resting Conley and developing Butler is more valuable than holding the fort down…even if it costs us in the short term. I feel like it might on take a couple weeks for Butler to get up to speed anyways.

He’s way more more talented, is a realistic two-way option in the playoffs, and his play could/should effect our roster decision making. Even if we find out that Butler isn’t ready and can’t contribute this season that’s valuable. 30 minutes isn’t enough to make that assertion. It took some time for Forrest to get rolling too.

I’d also be fine with giving Hughes a shot too. We should be using this as a development/discovery resource. If it turns out none of them can play, you can always look for a buyout guy or Galloway type later on.

If we’re going the vet, I might actually pick up Shaq over Galloway. I think Galloway is more valuable in a two way sense. If one of the rotation guys goes down I’d feel better about him playing 10-15 than Shaq. But Shaq is more valuable as that defense only player you might sub in at the end of a quarter. Not as big on the specialist idea as infection, but I see the value in an offense/defense sub even if Quin doesn’t.

The Exum homer in me is still curious about how he does for Barca. Might be another option once his deal ends.

Zion shut down again… Pelicans stuck in neutral… Bet we don’t see him this year.
 
It’s a damn shame. I thought Zion would be the next LeBron/Curry type player when it comes to fame. Hopefully he can get his health/weight in control and still do that.

Awesome. Looked like they were up early but I had checked back and GSW had been up like 12 or more and so I wrote it off.
