The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I was listening to an NBA pod on the way to work this morning and they were talking about the Mavs. The thought occurred to me, what if Dallas gets a top 3 pick in the draft next year and Utah doesn't?

Unfortunately that scenario is a very real possibility. I'm not sure my little heart could take it. DOOM DOOM DOOM.

The uncomfortable reality about the NBA is it's better to be lucky than it is to be good. You could also take the glass half full approach and say that even dumb franchises get lucky.

I dont really care who beats us in the lottery, it's going to suck the same.

I would normally agree, but it's pissing me off that the Mavs, Spurs, and Sixers get so much lotto lucks. Makes me not even want to root for the prospects even though I loved them predraft. They really need some kind of mechanism where if you win the lotto one year, it greatly increases or eliminates your chances of winning it again for some period of time.

The spurs in particular have been pissing me off.

Add in the Rockets... even though they didn't fully capitalize. I think this would be easy and you could sell it as deterring multi year eternal tanks. Get the #1 pick in a bad draft or whiff on the pick and it sucks even more... but at lease level the luck part of the equation a little.
