What's new

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

3 first rounders is a lot, but honestly it's a pretty small price to pay given the immediate known quality of the pick.

Yeah. They gave up 2 picks in this year's draft, which is considered by most to be a pretty meh draft.
One is their own, which will be a pretty late pick, and the other is the worst of a bunch of teams, so it will be really late. Doesn't feel like great value.

It all depends on how good IND feels about resigning Pascal....but even if he's committed to resigning, do you want to be the team giving him a brand new max contract at the age of 30? I understand why TOR did what they did.

Bruce Brown an interesting name to watch in a follow up trade. I think he's overrated by the nerdy crowd, but he can help just about any team.

If Siakam has committed to resigning, then I’m sure Indy would NOT have done the deal. That would be stupid of them.

I wouldn't want to pay siakim a max

Good deal for Indiana. It sounds like Pascal wouldn't commit to any team but I think they can extend him before he hits the market. Watching how the Pacers managed the draft last year I don't think they value the late picks all that much. The fit with Tyrese and Turner should work on paper and 2 of the 3 picks they gave up were craptastic.

Also the Brown contract is the type of contract you write up if you need star trade fodder and to meet the salary floor. Something I had mentioned multiple times... and now it is actually used in the star trade. That is how you manage the cap.

Apparently it brings them under the luxury tax threshold.
Saves them approximately 18M between the allocation they will now get and the salary. Good use of a second rounder.
