The Trout Man Commeth...

It is kind of funny to think that there could be some Verawati in Indonesia right now telling the story of how this great pious missionary from Canada came across the seas and changed her life, while GVC is back in Canada smoking a joint at the same time.

Awesome. I have a brother who is the same way, except exchange pot for alcohol. It's jolly good fun to bring up all the people he baptized -- he loves it.

First of all, you're not worth a response, but I'll bite and give you the, "Damn you're stupid, try to keep up." version:

Beautification of our neighborhoods, streets, and parks is paramount to the success of a city. I'll break it down as simply as possible: The city runs on tax dollars. You can only tax property so much, which means the other major source is sales tax revenue. If you're a business that is looking for a place to call home and you drive into a city that has poor upkeep, ugly parks, busted up streets and nasty neighborhoods, I think it's safe to say that you'll be taking your business -- and any future sales tax revenue -- with you to another city that gives a damn. I'm guessing you haven't driven through T-Ville lately and witnessed what the last eight years of doing nothing has accomplished.

Ridiculous spending includes $100,000.00 every year for three years to swap out street signs from green to blue so that they match the city's colors. That includes benefits for employees and elected officials that are better than most companies offer their employees. It also includes pay increases for city employees that fall above ordinances set by the city council, and thus are illegal.

Contradiction
con·tra·dic·tion
noun
1. the act of contradicting; gainsaying or opposition.
2. assertion of the contrary or opposite; denial.
3. a statement or proposition that contradicts or denies another or itself and is logically incongruous.
4. direct opposition between things compared; inconsistency.
5. a contradictory act, fact, etc.

Moron
mo·ron
noun
1. Informal: a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.
2. Psychology: (no longer in technical use; considered offensive) a person of borderline intelligence in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, having an intelligence quotient of 50 to 69.
3. Millsapa.

Sounds like the sign shop is contributing to a lot of city council candidates. Do your homework, and go pay them a visit. Take a few bank bags with you. You'll fit right in with the crowd.

T-ville is pretty solidly developed. No new malls possible. No place for an industrial plant or warehouse.

West Valley City has passed a whole raft of beautification ordinances requiring homeowners to repave their driveways and such, knowing that their tax haul is based on bank appraisals of homes. I'd vote against ordinances like this as a triple tax on the citizens. They have to pay to fix up their outside appearances when the Nazi compliance officers give them heavy-fined citiations all for the privilege of collecting an automatic tax increase in the form of property tax.

Smart citizens will move out, and drugrunners will move in. Then the fatcat city council club will have to pay for more police in addition to ignoring their own ordinances on compensation because, of course, they deserve more.

I was sorta planning to move to T-ville as a sort of "Happy Valley" in Salt Lake County. Maybe I'd better wait and see. . . .

I said I haven't watched conference. Your HUGE jump to me not bothering to listen to the Prophet is absolute idiocy and completely retarded (although I should have expected it). There are more ways to hear the Prophet speak than to sit on the couch and watch General Conference. Ever heard of this thing called "reading"? It uses words. It's something most Elementary school students have been taught. It can even be done on the internet.

It really ain't much of a stretch after "listening" to you, in fact I consider the behavior I've witnessed from you and your Mormon friends to be far worse than the anti-mormons I've encountered.

Idiocy and retarded are synonyms, and you forgot some form of douche to stay in line with the other Mormons who have flung insults at me since joining this forum.

Mormon counterculture revolutionaries/missionaries

I have many Mormon friends. Most go faithfully to their meetings and try to avoid the ward politics while being generally available to serve. Most are respectful and try to be understanding of others.

Typical of most, my last experience of being asked for advice was an older lady, meaning older than me, who has several gay clients she has treated for years in a professional and respectful way the same way I am treated. Two of these recently invited her to attend their "wedding" and she was feeling just mortified? If she went, would she be giving the impression that she morally supported such unions? She said she preferred to just not think about it, and generally wouldn't involve herself in such self-analysis, but she just felt uncomfortable.

I said most Mormons do the same thing by inviting non-LDS folks to their wedding ceremonies, or by running for national elected office, but nobody needs to do anything they just feel uncomfortable about. Period.

This whole human sense of community/civic responsibility/conforming to expectations/fear of being singled out as some kind of noncomplying anachronistic or non-cool person psychology just merits the indifference of the masses.

I think people who speak their minds clearly and fearlessly, without making it a personal attack, are works of art. Beautiful.

In my opinion, the whole concept of a "Prophet" or "leaders" annointed of God to direct the decisions of humans en masse is inherently non-conforming with a view of Christ as the teacher of individual conscience and personal morality.

Now that doesn't mean it's inconsistent with the idea of prophets and priests as recorded in the Bible, or with missionaries/apostles as seen in the New Testament, just that youngsters with excess enthusiasm for their own interpretations will need to learn intellectual balance in the long run. And learn to just say stuff without personal attack implications.

How could they?

While much of your commentary is interesting in a train-wreck sort of way, it's difficult to see any credibility in what you say, as we really have no idea who or what you are. Do you find that hiding yourself away and cowering under a cloak of anonymity helps when passing judgement on others, based on your perceptions and understandings, and flexing your own self righteousness?

Just wondering.

Well this thread took a turn for the worse, can't stand when things turn into "religious discussions", bah now I have to ignore a thread I posted in. Guess I just don't see the point for the most part they all turn into endless bickering, name calling by both sides and general ignorance and nobody will ever concede or change their opinions. But I guess if your point (who ever turned the thread to this) was to end it then good job.

Hey look if you don't like whatever religion or lack of religion or whatever why put yourself through it. Look I know I don't like a-holes so guess what I avoid the proctologist office, LA fans and opinions, it's not that hard.

You've had no problem telling me who I am up to this point. I'll always treasure that nasty P.M. you sent me.

Maybe she'd be interested in further spiritual enlightenment. Besides, i've heard that GVC is available.

No kidding.

I demand that this topic get back on topic!

Three weeks until the election, and things are getting heated. I'm pretty sure that my opponent, who I like and respect, wants to take me out back and beat me with a rusty pitchfork. His kids glare at me from the audience, and his wife gives me the coldest stink-eye you've ever seen. My opponent has taken to my neighborhood where he has signs two doors down from my front porch, which really frosts my ***, but I can dig it. I don't sleep much. I'm losing weight again, but I'm not trying to this time.

I just need to win and get this crap over with.

Also, you're all jerks. (for you, babe)
