Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

But Kennard has Mann, George, Kawhi (kind of), Batum, and Morris out there helping him. Him plus Donovan and that crew will be a layup line. Outside of an injury the thing that will hurt Donovan's trade value most is us becoming a complete and utter layup line. He is already starting to lose a little shine but might be viewed as more of a Hardenesque problem... like he sucks at defense but they still win. Becoming a layup line he starts to become more like Minnesota LaVine or Mountain Monta or more of a looter in a riot.

I know we suck on the perimeter... but believe it or not... we could get worse.

I think we are especially bad because we carried this believe that Mike and Don could actually defend. Of course it helps to have better defenders behind your traffic cone, but the Jazz played zero help defense outside of Rudy. Our defense was especially bad because we truly put our guys on an island. No other playoff team does this to the extent we do. Mostly a coaching thing rather than a player thing though.

I don't think Mitchell will get any more flack for his defense than he is right now in this moment. He's facing real criticism because of the expectations this team had and the failure to meet them. I'm actually expecting a Trae Young type season out of him next year. He'll lead the league in scoring or come close to it if Conley is gone, rack up more assists outside of Quin's system, everyone already knows his defense is bad, and we'll be in the play in games. Don is fairly well established anyways, the perception of him is not going to change in a drastic way.

And I get told that I make dumb, unrealistic trade ideas.
Again, why do you always comment on my post that dont invlove you? You that desperate for my attention when you have supposedly blocked me?

Why you lying to the people?

And yes, I preface most of my trades that I make with "This is incredibly stupid/unrealistic".

Kennard seems like a good addition, but you're right, his defense would be a liability much like Duncan Robinson.

I want to get Bruce Brown so badly. Would the Nets value Mike Conley more than Bruce Brown?
He was out of the rotation at times. I like Brown but what he does in Brooklyn isn't how we would use him. I liked him more when he was a wing and not a small ball big. I don't think Brooklyn has a need for Mike and I don't see a trade possibility there.

Think the bulls would find anything we have worth taking for Lonzo? Or am I just day dreaming hahaha

I'm with you man, lonzo can be a stud. I dream of us being Long tall lanky squad with defenders to bully around the opposing teams

Yeah I don't know... I just watched Kennard a few times this year and he had some moments where I legit thought he looked as athletic as I would if I was on a court with NBA players. Then I imagined our unathletic team actually getting less athletic.

You may be right and Donovan may rack up more points and assists with a shooter like Kennard on the floor too... Knicks seem like ppg types.

Donovan will be giving up more assist and points than he will be accruing them if he has to play defense next to Kennard.

Thus the conundrum of building around someone as limited as Donovan.

Oh we need good defenders next to Don so he wont be exposed by dudes like Jalen Brunson. You got to put Don on the absolute worst perimeter player who is no threat to create.

Oh they also got to be able to shoot cuz you want to play 5 out cuz the only passes Donovan can make are drive and kick.

So the Jazz got to get a bunch of really good defenders who are long and big, and they also got to shoot.

Oh I forgot, Donovan also isnt good enough to be a mega usage star like a Doncic/Harden, so you need another player with high level creation ability, but that guy can't be short and he has to be able to guard so we can stick Donovan on nobodies.

It just doesnt work.

*and yes, before the weasels respond, Gobert is also very difficult to build around, but less so IMO*

Kind of the best synopsis of Don really. This isnt hyperbole, its hard fact.

Don didn't guard Brunson for the most part. Conley and Royce did.
Yeahs thats the point genius. Don wasnt good enough to guard a 6' guard who isnt even close to being an All-Star
Steph and Dame don't cover Doncic or Harden either.
Again, that's the point. Donovan isn't on the level of offensive super-star where it's passable for him to be a complete zilch defender (and Steph is a much better defender than Don)
This whole defense conversation just goes in circles.
Again, exactly. Don is such a bad defender that he makes it difficult to build a team. And he doesnt have the skill to offset that putrid D like a Doncic has.

This might be the worst response to what I posted possible.

I think Don might have guarded more of Brunson shots than Royce ended up guarding. Dallas was purposefully switching to get Brunson on Donovan (or Conley or Clarkson).

I know this is slightly off topic, but I've been wanting to throw it in somewhere, Brunson ended the series shooting 11/28 when he was guarded by Royce. He was 51/98 against everyone else.

I have never applauded Don's defense. I have always said we can easily put up a good enough defense to win a title if he is our worst defender.

Royce is okay,, but our other 2 perimeter defenders suck. Rudy can't guard the perimeter either.

Steph Curry isn't a better defender than Don, but that doesn't matter. Not the point of the story.

How can you honestly say that we can put up a good enough defense to win a title if he’s our worst defender?

He isn’t a better defender than Steph and you know why? Steph at least tries on defense where as Donovan is as useful as a traffic cone.
