What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Russell is eons better than Conley at the same age. Conley in his 4th year and a year old than Russell averaged 13, 6.5 and 3.

Conley is slightly better than Russell is now. I have admitted he is better, but you guys are getting carried away.

Somebody ask Tony Jones. Conley at his salary or Russell at max plus keeping our assets. What does he say?
I’m not sure what Tony Jones would say. But he’s a journalist and loves chuckers so I’m not sure why you are bringing him up.

It just feels like we are going to get Russell. That is the story that fate is writing. I don't know if it is good or bad, but it is happening. . .
The story fate is writing for the Jazz is probably another chapter of "Jazz interested in a bunch of guys and get nobody" if we're being really cynical.

The good thing about a max is that they’re only four years. You typically get at least 1.5-2 years in before the regret, and then you’ve got at least a year of convincing yourself that they’ll have value as an expiring contract. It’s not like the 7-year max AK deals.

Exum wasn’t the max, was three years, and we regretted that **** virtually immediately.

I really like d-lo. The only sad thing is, favors will be the sacrifice for him because of the stupid Exum signing. Resigning exum was by far the dumbest signing the jazz have done in a while.

That’s because it tends to change the calculus when the player you’re talking about has absolutely no impact and is completely ded weight.

I don't think adding Russell means we have to lose Favors.

If Korver retires and we waive/stretch him, we have around $39 million. Russell, if we gave him a full max, would cost $27.

So we could still bring Favors back at around $12 million. He might get more on the open market for a one year deal, but I think we could give him 3 years guaranteed $30-35 million which should beat any other offer. If he walks away from an offer like that, then so be it. We can always say we tried.
