Excited for Hayward

As a defender, Hayward will be Korver.
As a shooter, Hayward will be AK.

Wish it were the other way around.

You heard it here first. Hayward is the next Bird, even though he looks more like an elf from Lord of the Rings.

Looking at Hayward’s body of work, it is difficult to knock what he could bring to the table in a complementary role. Smart and savvy, he is a coach’s dream. But his lack of athleticism raises questions about his long-term potential.

So as to getting help now, it's not going to happen. KOC said, "wait two years and see what he becomes" when everyone was booing him at the ESA after the pick. He isn't very athletic either. So he's another two to three year project that we'll probably trade as a salary dump and maybe get a second round draft pick for and a trade exception.

Last but not least, we still don't have anyone big that can play D.

I think Hayward could end up being a good player in the NBA... but I'm not sure how it's gonna work out in Utah. Sloan, who will still be here long after Hayward retires (and probably dies), runs an offense built around a PG/PF... and I can't seem to remember a single outstanding SF to come through the "system" in the last 20 years.

So even if Hayward does turn out to be special, I don't think we will see much beyond what we already have in Miles/Matthews due to the inherent limitations of Sloan's system.

Because of that, the Jazz should either have worked even harder to trade up or they should have traded down for additional assets... you don't waste a #9 pick on a guy who can never be more than a system role player.

I believe Okur will come back better than ever, and stronger than ever. Rehab from this injury will be by far the hardest work he's ever done, he may actually increase his vertical from 2.5 to 3".

Agree, a good pick. No real other options other than Aldrich, and people would bitch the same about him, cuz he is white too.

On the old board back in December I posted a thread about Kyle Singler and Gordon Hayward as possibilities for the Knicks pick. I got laughed off and belittled by every poster saying "way too early"...Including Honz - thats a fact. So I'm happy we got him, but as far as getting a wing who can create and contribute now Babbitt should've been our guy. I still am high on Hayward, but even higher on Babbitt. We'll see.

I'm amazed at how many have been panicking about this pick.

Bump for Honz. Would love a response.

This pick is going to go down as one of the worst in francise history.
Try and find a way to love it, I cannot. This kid is not an NBA player.
No way in hell is he a lottery pick.

KOC just cemented this team's fate, and his own.

I can understand why Jazz took Hayward. Jazz are tired of drafting clueless idiots who don't know how to run a simple play. Jazz rely on players who can run the system and execute plays. Hayward may be the smartest player in draft this year and will play the system just as Sloan wants. Deron will love a guy who is always exactly where he's supposed to be.

amen!

i see nothing but a bust on the jazz. yeah maybe the jazz will be the first team to have a all white team...and get rid of the thugs on the jazz to keep that nice utah image going...you might as well say goodbye to d-will,cj miles, wes ,boozer and millsap sometime soon.

Yep its all about race.

People on here are obsessed with it.

People complain at the situation at teh 5 spot, but isnt this what half the board has wanted all last year? Sloan will be forced to develop Kosta or Fess now. Isnt that what everyone was complaining about last year? AK no play his natural position at the 4 too, another thing people have been complaining about.

And to the guy who compared AK shooting to Hayward shooting, get real, Hayward is a good shooter, he might not be elite yet, but I think he can get there.

I've also done some soul searching and I'm no longer a believer. I've completely lost my faith in KOC, Sloan and Greg Miller. It was wavering last season and now it is gone. For now, I will still hold out hope that something else will be done come July. If not, I'll find a new team to worship or just remain agnostic.

Don't let the door hit your @$$ on the way out.

(cough) bandwagon (cough)

Speakin for my own damn self, I'm a hard-core, true-blue, stone-cold, die-hard Jazz fan! I ALWAYS root for the Jazz. Well, unless mebbe the team they're playin gits a 2-point lead on them, or sumthin. Then I root for the other team, BUT, if the Jazz take the lead back, I'm straight back to rootin for the Jazz, see!? It works out pretty good that way...whoever wins, *my* team won, and I can be very proud of myself. And I can talk trash to the fans of the losin team, whether it's the Jazz or their opponent.

Hayward has a higher no-step vertical than John Wall. What if Hayward adds some lower body strength and explosiveness? He could a couple of inches to his vertical.

I would have gone in a different direction but I can't call this a "bad pick" because there really weren't any alternatives that didn't have just as many questions as Hayward. I can definitely see Hayward being a quality starter 2 years down the road. The other argument you make against this pick is why we didn't draft size, which can't really be argued until we see what happens during free agency.

Don't love the pick, but definitely excited to see Hayward play in Orlando. Hopefully the games will be televised.

Hard not to notice when the Jazz select 40% white when the league average is less than 20%. Kind of makes em look racist, but no some on here think they're Rush Limbaugh and claim that everyone else is racist for noticing the racism of the whiteys.

Not even a sticky thread for the legendary Knicks lottery pick? Bump.

I see this as a good sign. The moran percentage among the posters in this forum is about 95%. You think he sucks... for sure Hayward is gonna be good!
