Coronavirus

Face to face school in the fall sounds like a cluster **** of the century. Davis is essentially going with regular school and schedule. No mask requirement. Jordan is going regular school with an online component and with an adjusted Friday schedule to clean the school. No mask requirement, no checking the kids temperatures, and no social distancing.

unsure what other districts are doing. I was waiting eagerly for what canyons, granite, and alpine.

My former colleagues have been blowing up my phone all day. Each day is going to be a super spreader. One of my friends who’s a VP in a local district came into contact with a sick teacher. She’s was tested and is now on day 5 of waiting for the test results.

How does this play out this fall?

Probably poorly. Fall sports are going to be a nightmare if offseason practices are any indication.

I was under the impression that this was already well known....

virus hitching rides on floater particles. need to clean air in HVAC ducts. summer AC. social distance 10X AS RELEVANT.

Right? At last count 6 schools are in quarantine. And the season hasn’t even started. Lol

Most teachers are going to end up teaching behind plexiglass just like at Maverik. And that’s not a joke - they are putting up shields for teachers that want them.

America is in quarantine, but we were placed there by the rest of the world who won’t allow us in now.

I don’t think most will. There might be some plexiglass. But I don’t think many will teach behind it

This isn’t gonna end well...

Honestly it's gonna end okay.

Are people gonna get COVID-19? Yes. Are school aged kids going to die? No. Will many of them infect the people they live with, including elderly grandparents or people with underlying conditions? Yes, but people at high risk should be making plans now to eliminate contact with people who will be exposed in school, work, social interactions.

So yeah, it's gonna be kinda bad. Infectious diseases sure do suck, and they sure do kill people.

Have we ever responded to an infectious disease the way we have to COVID-19 in the last 100 years? Nope. We've let people die. Just like we let people die on our highways. Just like we let people die from cigarettes, or opioids.

I'm all for reasonable precautions. I'm all for personal responsibility.

Make masks mandatory. Make social distancing guidelines legally enforceable.

We can't contain or stop this. The cats out of the bag. We had a chance in March. We don't have the ability to stop this now. Strap in and enjoy the ride... let the people with underlying conditions know you love them.

See you in 2022.

Davis, Jordan, and now Canyons have just released their plans. No social distancing, no temperature screenings, and masks are recommended but not required for students.
I still have to review Nebo’s and Provo’s.

Sending students and educators prematurely when the pandemic is ravaging and without the ability to require masks from students or to socialdistance is ridiculous. Districts in our state need to focus on getting better at online learning to ensure safety. Instead, they’re caving to political pressure and are sentencing a certain amount of their employees to die. This isn’t ethical or reasonable. Literally, no other western democracy is doing what we’re doing.
