2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I honestly want to stop thinking about Victor after today because if the Jazz have a bottom 3 record and don't get him, it will be a worse feeling than the Clippers game.

I'm just going to get excited about Amen Thompson or someone like that
I will have that feeling if the Jazz don't have a bottom-3 record. I can't have strong feelings about things that are outside the team's control, it's too easy for me to be upset about things that ARE within the team's control.

Dog hes 7'5. He can just jump in the air and it's a high quality shot.

And no **** he played different in a more up tempo spaced game that is closer to NBA style.

You are way overthinking Vics game to try and make a point that isn't really there. He's a GOAT prospect.
That's the thing for me that makes drafting him 1st such an easy call. If all he does is be Gobert and shoot mostly 3s but does it well, then I don't care that much about how well he plays inside. The dude will be able to shoot over basically anyone, and anyone that could bother him he can torch. If he simply plays with a Draymond sensibility on offense (fairly rudimentary "if, then" drop-down menus and options), he will score 30 a game in year 3.

The bar for him to be an unsolvable nightmare for the opposition on both sides of the floor is lower than any prospect ever.

Ever.

You’re right…he’s 7’5. He should be averaging more than one FTA a game lol.

7’5 is not worth anything if all you’re using it for is to shoot terribly from floor. That has been his career so far. If he’s a GOAT level prospect, he should have a season where he isn’t shooting horribly from the floor. The reason why he’s shoot horribly is because he doesn’t use his size or skill to get high percentage baskets. Yet anyways.

For sure. And I am a disciple of fundamentals, just wanted to highlight the benefits (and importance) of making wild shots.

That’s fair. I just think we need to make a distinction between “unique” and “good”. Someone like Porzingis is more unique than Mitchell, for example, but Mitchell is still a much better offensive player.

Wemby has taken these “wild” shots all his career, but they have not gone in a high rate. Before calling the best prospect since LeBron, which is an incredibly high bar to clear, I think I’ll need to see him either make them at a higher rate or use his size and skill to get higher percentage shots. Luka was the MVP of the damn Euroleague coming into the league lol.

yeah Danny Ainge hasn't done what he has so far to just go win 32 games and get the 8th pick I'll be stunned if there aren't a bunch more tanking moves **** Adam Silver we need to win that damn race to the bottom

Other than making the jazz nba championship level contenders, just think what he’d do to put Utah on the map. If we won the chance to draft him the jazz would all of a sudden be playing almost weekly on national tv, shows like ESPN First take or ESPN get up or undisputed would be talking jazz daily. Then other players would be taking less money to sign here then we’d win chips.

We must suck for Vic this year.

The good part is Gobert has probably had lots of great things to say about Utah to Victor
Victor should be looking forward to playing in Utah if Jazz get #1 pick

This is crazy bro.

No way we get him.

But…

What if?
The only thing that gives me hope is that I'd assume the Jazz are already the most popular NBA team in France because of Rudy. The Jazz could be like the Rockets are in China for the French market with Vic.
