Besides the comments that he made in a private recording, there was never any substantial evidence to show Sterling ran the clippers with prejudice when he was the owner.

Likewise, what Morey openly posted on his Twitter account could be viewed by China as an evidence that he ran a Houston Rockets team with "prejudice" against the Chinese government. Since we all know that most of these Chinese corporations sponsoring the Rockets over all these years had strong ties to the Chinese government, Morey should've known the potential consequences that would come from the comments he made.

He should if he thinks that Rockets doesn't need the Chinese market any more. I'll support him for that.

But if he wants the Chinese market AND make statement in public against the Chinese government, that will do nothing for him but upsets both parties. That seems to be what the NBA is trying to do also.

You are missing the point. Comments that Sterling made alone was clearly enough to make him a racist and inapt for ownership. Similarly, Morey’s post on Twitter alone was clearly enough for China to withdraw its sponsorship. Words you said matter.

I'll applaud Morey if he goes all out and says F** China and let's go Hong Kong. That'll earn him respect as a human being. Not so sure about him being the GM of an organization that still wants to make money off China though. That is the sad part.

I don't like my boss but unless one day that I decide to quit my job, I probably will not say anything derogatory towards him in public.

The funniest thing here is that the NBA makes way, way too much money as it is. This is ****ing ridiculous.

Disappointing. We have a climate in American politics where our social culture has allowed many public figures, and many tied to the NBA, to feign ‘courage’ by making fairly safe “criticisms” or “stands.” For as much as we lather on praise for people being so “brave,” them “taking a stand” really has no real repercussion. At least not any repercussion that isn’t sufficiently compensated, and then some, by the overwhelming pop culture support it engenders. Here will be an interesting study in (hell, not even really “taking a stand”) what happens when someone voices something that does have some significant consequences and comes with little peer support. I’m hoping Morey isn’t left hanging out here. It appears he’s waiving the white flag himself. Oh well. NBA Twitter can go back to “courageously” tweeting their safe views and slapping each other high five on how good and bold they are.

A lady from news media tweeting about NBA doing the "smart" thing by acknowledging Morey's comments as "offensive" to chinese while supposedly supporting his freedom of speech lol. Wouldn't be surprised to see her tweet deleted

Straight up **** China (‘s government). Wanna know something cool? On Apple’s Maps app when in China, China is the only country in the world. All other areas are denoted simply by their continent.
