I would be interested in hearing experts discuss the merits of purposefully exposing large portions if the population to the virus. We know that much of the population is at low risk (children, teens, healthy young adults, etc.). This low risk population is also the manner through which the virus is primarily transmitted. So, by infecting these low risk population we would 1) remove the uncertainty about if these low risk groups are contagious, and 2) eliminate the major pathway for the pandemic to spread (kind of like how we do with vaccines). This controlled infection would also allow an important portion of the population to continue with normal life (school, work, etc.) which helps the economy.
I would be happy to just get it over with for me and my family and know that it is no longer an issue for any of us. We used to do this kind of thing to kids with chickenpox (I remember having a friend sent over to play with me when I had them because the family wanted to expose the boy before he got any older).
