I also like Josh Giddey quite a bit. Still young, lots of potential.

No idea, but haven’t seen a great deal of appreciation for nuance among fans.
I'm not a Giddey fan. I watched a lot of OKC this year, and he never impressed me. He always looked like the weak link on the court, and I wasn't even sure his passing was that special. I decided to look at his on/off stats just to see if maybe I was being biased against him, and I'm starting to think maybe I was.
Specifically the number that jumped out to me was that OKC averaged 4.66 more assists per 100 possessions when Giddey was on the court vs off the court. OKC's offense improved by 5.18pts/100 possessions when he was on the court. Now he did somewhat negate that with OKC giving up 3.6 more pts/100possessions when he was on the court.
As a Comparison this year here are other on/off assists and points per 100 possessions: Mike Conley + 2.6asts/+0.21pts, Tyrese Haliburton +2.25asts/+4.9pts, Luka -1.15asts/+9.56pts, Jokic +7.67ast/+16.62pts, Trae Young -0.84asts/+4.04pts, Lebron +7.86asts/+9.03pts.
To further understand these numbers I went back to Prime Joe Ingles in Utah where he was at +6.27asts/+2.43pts. I think Giddey could have a similar effect on our offense as Joe Ingles. Defensively, I disagree with the statement that he would improve our defense. Maybe it can't be any worse. I'm still a pass on trading for Giddey, but I could get behind it a little bit more after seeing how he could really change the way we play.

If the Jazz are looking to trade Walker Kessler, I’d rather they do it next year in a stronger draft. I’m still a fan of his, but this directionless approach feels like a drag on these guys and their development.

I think he would in a much better situation to perform on offense in UTA. He is definitely not a fit there playing next to Shai and Jalen. Playing UTA's offense that is much more about spreading out and hitting cutters would suit him well. KO and Dunn were really successful playing in the middle of the floor for us and I think Giddey would be perfect in the same role. Defensively....I don't think he's a great defender, but like you said it can't actually be any worse and his rebounding does contribute to team defense even if other areas are lacking.

<eyeroll> It painfully clear you don't math for a living. His sample size of being a 50% shooter is just as large as high as him being a 60% shooter (the most recent sample.) If you want to be a ****head (your default position) I guess you could say he is a career 55% shooter which is NOT 50%
The rest of the NBA is comfortable by differentiating by season. I'll do it as well.

I like combining a few of the ideas in here for a Giddey trade… Kessler + worst of 2025 picks for Giddey and the rights back to our pick feels about right to me. Kessler would be a great fit there, Giddey could be a great fit here. We also give OKC a guaranteed first rounder back in a great draft, where right now it looks like there’s a pretty good chance that our pick to them doesn’t ever convey

I still like Kessler but would be open to trading him + 10 to move up for Clingan in this draft. Donovan just projects to have the higher ceiling as a 2 way NBA player.
It's going to be super unpopular but I would trade Key + 10 to move up for Reed Sheppard. I think he has the higher ceiling and would be the #1 pick if he were 2-3 inches taller and also if Calipari didn't undermine his guards at Kentucky. The Jazz don't have a single player on the top 25 list of players under the age of 25 so I would be rolling the dice to find a few of those types similar to what OKC has done. As much as I also like Keyonte does he project any higher than an Anfernee Simons type player?
I'm not dealing future picks unless I get back someone already on that top 25 list such as Cade. A blogger mocked a Cade trade for Utah and I'd be all over it. The chances that Detroit trades him are very slim but the Pistons just hired a new GM and their young lottery backcourt does not mesh at all.
Giddey would be fine but does he project any higher than being a really good utility type player? Maybe he's just being held back due to being a bad fit in OKC, but from my eye he's clearly at least a tier or two below the Jalen Williams and Chet types they have on their on their roster. I would be aiming a bit higher if I were Danny Ainge especially if it involved dealing future picks. Maybe that type trade doesn't materialize at all this offseason.
Giddeya nearly averaged a triple double per 36 when Shai was out
