What's new

So this is why Spence hasn't been on the radio...

That's true. But you would hope that a father with children (I believe Spence has a son) would have more maturity and awareness of possible consequences of his actions than, say, a college student getting drunk at a party. That he didn't care is cause for concern. Maybe it's just me, but if I planned on getting drunk, I'd call Uber or make sure someone in my company was the designated driver. I value others' lives (and my own) too much to take the chance of killing or injuring someone else or myself by driving impaired. And even if I didn't have an accident, the consequences of being arrested and convicted of DUI are pretty onerous. Except, apparently, the consequences haven't been severe enough to convince Spencer to not drive while under the influence.
Cool dude. You dont have a problem with alcohol. There have been multiple studies on repeat offenders. It isnt simply a maturity choice or lack of good planning in most cases. I dont agree that jail time is a good punishment for these kind of things (it's a terrible punishment for a lot of things). I would definitely side for him having to be put on a interlock system to start his car for the foreseeable future, but I just heavily disagree with people calling him scum or immature, it's bigger than that.

nobody besides Checketts was hurt here, guys. Luckily. Thank goodness. But, yeah, let’s spend Sunday talking **** about the guy. Woot toot!

One DUI I could possibly understand as a careless mistake, albeit with serious consequences deserved. Any more than that and **** that dude. That kind of disregard for others' lives deserves a jail sentence. Three DUI's? You are a menace to society and need to be put away for a long time.

My buddy, who does a lot of work on cars, saw a girl struggling with starting her car. He told her he’d grab his car and come over and help her. When he came up he saw the breathalyzer in her car and then just took off.

So it's clear it's very wrong/dangerous etc and he knows that, and I don't know the guy. To be doing 120 it almost seems that maybe he wanted to get caught? Regardless if you come read here Spence, a lot of people enjoyed your material. Hope you fight to get through these dark hours. There is yet much good you can do.

I think the folks on 1280 have handled this pretty well to not get into condemnation and give him privacy. I'm sure emotions are all over the spectrum there.

To those that condemn him and are filled with anger at his reckless decision, go control something, decide to sacrifice some of your time that would have been recreation, selfish time to support somebody or some cause that is making a difference in the world. It's a great way to direct all of that energy that these things evoke. It's quite frankly what built this nation.

You are such a contrarian douche. What if he killed your daughter?

Glad to see someone is getting in the way of the mass reduction.

Would rep.

He had two DUIs in 2004, a failure to appear in court from one of those, and a pled down DUI. He's had two DUIs prior to this most recent one and now a third. He has only been convicted of two DUI's (and probably a third upcoming). You know what it sounds like when you say 5 DUI arrest. It might be semantics to you, but in a thread where people are discussing appropriate jail time, details matter. You seem to be arguing with me just for some vendetta against me.

The last three pages of this thread have not been dedicated to determining his jail time.

Cy's ego is way too big to stay away from arguing in favor of a five-time DUI offender. If there were ever a reason to conclude that Cy is a douche, this is it.

Ya, he's the one with the ego here. Suuure.
