I would have investigated keeping Favs long term, but to do that we needed a point guard that could shoot. Sticking with Rudy, Ricky, Favs lineups so long didn't give us a chance to definitively say Favs and Rudy doesn't work. HOWEVER... we have enough data to say it is not ideal and trade that lineup in for something else.

I think we pivot... I think TJ is tight with Favs. I think we are torn on it, but that we know what needs to happen.

I think we're looking for a reason to keep him. Like, let's say we (hypothetically) land a Dinwiddie. I think that relieves a lot of DL's mental turmoil because now he has a reason to run it back with Favors and can avoid that conflict.

I think we are trying to make keeping him look like part of the plan... like if we failed we could say we couldn't get some middling move done because they weren't as good as getting favors.

On the Dinwiddie front... if we can get him we should... regardless of if Tobias came or we got another guard. He could start or be the bench scorer. I doubt he becomes available.

We need to watch Milwaukee still... so here is their deal. They don't have full bird rights on Lopez... so it isn't as simple as just "pay everybody". If they use the MLE exception to keep him at 4/40M that would probably do it, but then they are hard capped at the apron. So if they do that then they won't be able to just match anything with Brogdon. If they drop below the cap and used space to sign Brook they would not be hard-capped... they can get below the cap a couple ways but its tricky.

They may try and offload Snell... who is a solid bench wing/guard, but is paid like a starter. They can't send out picks so would likely have to attach DJ Wilson and Donte Divicenzo.

Anyway, will be something interesting to watch.

It's possible but not likely. They need to lose Kemba in FA, and have one of Marvin Williams or MKG decline his player option for them to be able to absorb Favors without sending salary back. What do you want to trade Favors for?

It's a no. He counts as 18M in out going salary for us and 0$ incoming for them... with their cap situation they won't be able to clear enough space to do a lopsided trade.

Building on my Bucks narrative from earlier. We could move Jae and Kyle to Milwaukee for Snell, DJ Wilson, and #30 (after they have made the selection they can trade it). It should meet the matching salary criteria as Korver is only 3.4M for salary matching purposes, but the difference isn't too large. It would essentially be salary neutral for us... so wouldn't hurt free agency. Gives us a couple other young players and a playable wing. The Jazz liked Wilson in the draft and he showed some improvement this year.

Milwaukee can waive and stretch Korver and they'd end up getting Jae and reducing current year salary by 5-6M which will help with them trying to dip below the cap far enough to re-sign Brook.

My offseason backup plan would be to collect tradeable assets (contracts, young guys, and picks) and when Philly decides to move Harris you have something to offer... same with Charlotte and Kemba. This move would start us down that road... but if we were able to get those guys in Free Agency it doesn't hurt us either.

He has some value in a Conley deal if we flip him to Charlotte they send Biyombo and some asset... Grizz wouldn't want Favs imo… so it's just salary... and if the salary is the same they'd like to get something.

There are scenarios where he has trade value, but the timing is tricky and there would be too many assumptions from the teams involved imo.

I think you have that backwards, don't you. He would count as 0M in outgoing salary for the Jazz and 18M as incoming salary for Charlotte.* But yeah, impossible for a team over the cap.
