As far as large global cities are concerned, LA has some of the best access to outdoor stuff. In other words, you're waaaay wrong.

I'm far from mid-life.
I don't have problems getting attention from these women.
You can continue to fake disinterest if you want. But, it'd be better for your dudes-I-swear-I'm-straight routine if you feigned jealousy instead.
I just personally don't like the outdoor stuff that LA has to offer. For some, it is great. But I like living by world class ski resorts, awesome rivers, and great mountain biking/hiking. I am sure you can get some great mountain biking/hiking in the LA area, but you have to drive like hours to get out of the city, and then drive to the mountains.
I am not afraid of cold water though, but I can see why some dont like surfing in the pacific. If I was a surfer, I would probably live in Southern California. I am sure LA is awesome, but I just don't personally like it.
Homophobic much bro?
LOL...

If we're talking about priorities, then it appears you've prioritized things that keep you out of major cities. That's a decision I understand. If we're talking about how all major cities suck by your criteria, then I think we're wasting our time.

[size/HUGE] fixed ;680605 said:not homophobic at all. I gave a direct reply to your post + offered a suggestion that you should consider.
True, but what is the draw to a major city? To me, the only major city that I would want to live in would be New York. (at least in the US)
NYC has so much culture and something new to do every day. But it is terrible if you like to do anything outdoors.
[size/HUGE] fixed ;680612 said:you said LA sucks. I defended it on grounds that it is a major global city, and therefore has to be judged on criteria different than you one you appeared to be using. I think I was right to do so.
There is no a priori draw to major cities, just stupid judgments of them.
I don't like guys/dudes, but it seems you have a problem with people who do.
I lived alone on roughly 50 acres in the Eastern Townships of Quebec for 3 years (commuted about an hour to and from school). It was pretty ****ing fantastic; I miss it all the time. My hope is that eventually I can find a rewarding job close enough to a rural area that pays me enough to buy 20+ acres with a significant woodlot (preferably with water, of course), and someone to share it with.Didn't GVC live the mountain man lifestyle for a while...he can hook you up
I just think for me, LA is too far from anything cool like mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. It does have the ocean going for it, but it is a cold ocean...
Define mountains and define too far.
I work nights. I start at 4pm. I live in Los Feliz which is in the city. One of my usual routes is up the Angeles Crest Highway which is 30 minutes away...by bike. I can ride into the forest of the Angeles Crest for 20 or so miles and still get to work on time. Saying that you have to drive for hours to get good mountain biking is laughable. To say that mountains, rivers and lakes are "too far way" is to be ignorant of the topography of Los Angeles or to be blatantly trolling.
Yes, LA is not Denver or San Francisco or Chicago but all those aforementioned towns have had a inferiority complex with Los Angeles as far as I can remember. The weather alone blows those three places out of the water.
