Obama did increase the power of the presidential office. Some of what Trump is doing today is the fault of Obama for setting a precedent for a president to over step his office. Way too many executive orders from him.
Lol, at a lot of that though.
I think that’s one of the things that fueled the reaction to the election of Trump. There was a generally believed sentiment that republicans would never win another presidential election if they didn’t ____ or if they continued to do ____, and the expansion of executive power was ignored and dismissed. I think a lot of people were confronted with that reality when they realized someone they didn’t want having all that power now had all that power. Up until that point, many were content with the expansion of executive power because they had no reason not to trust it, and couldn’t foresee it changing hands.
The executive branch can do nothing but contort itself (read: become corrupted) when Congress is in partisan deadlock. The core problem here comes down to all that is fueling the corruption of Party Politics. **** still has to get done, but through these gambits now.
The bigger scandal between Obama’s executive orders and what the DNC did to Bernie (one example among many in both parties)? Easily the latter.
