What's new

Karl Malone's take on all of this......?

it might not be hate.
not because someone is "flawed" means you automatically hate him.
right?

you hate that certain flaw from that person, you do not let the "flaw" define him.

not because someone commits certain "sins".

sometimes the sins or flaws are so big it defines the person, thats when it is hate.

a certain example is al jefferson.

i dont hate al jefferson the person but lets put that aside for the moment.
i hate al jefferson the basketball player.
cus his flaws in my eyes are so big it not onnly defines him but also the entire jazz offensive system and defensive playing style.

so yeah I hate AL the basketball player.

please dont mix up "hate" and disliking a persons "flaw"

.....makes quite a bit of sense to me! Good illustration to fit the subject matter, too!

I am morally opposed to what christians believe and the moral atrocities they as a group have committed during history.

.....I am, too! But just because a religion "claims" to be Christian does not make it one! True Christianity has been so badly "apostatized" since the 2nd Century that as it presently stands is nothing near what Jesus and the apostles taught and believed or that is actually found in the Bible. Infact, as you probably already know, most, if not all, so-called Christian "holidays" are steeped in paganism and have nothing to do whatsoever with Jesus Christ or the Bible! And certainly the atrocities you speak of have no basis in the actual teachings and direction Jesus himself gave or that was lived by those early Christians.

What about HIV rates among women (genuinely curious-- this could either support or destroy your opinion)? Do women have anal sex as well?

Women are great with pain. They'll get their nipples pierced, get inked jobs, Brazilian wax jobs, eyebrows plucked, but when it comes to taking a #$@# in the ***, suddenly it hurts too much.

and here i thought i was only gonna give negs in this thread.

Well when you're pressured to be straight and are told that homosexuality is an open rebellion against God, you do whatever you can to fit in. Do you not understand that it was Christian pressure making him be in that hetero relationship for 8 years? If he wasn't told growing up that being gay would send him to hell, or the fact that "******" was totally overused in the 90's and 00's, or that the african american community has been ridiculously slow to accept LGBT rights, he would have probably come out a lot sooner.
Whatever the excuse, he was wrong in leading a woman on for 8 years. Lance Bass said that he simply abstained from being in a relationship with anyone to protect his career. Jason could have/SHOULD HAVE broken up with his "girlfriend" after a few years. Go solo for a while, get another GF or a string of ladies; there's no shortage of women who want to be around NBA players. Or do what many actors and singers have done when they felt they had to hide their homosexuality in order to preserve their careers: get a GF for "window drssing" who knows what the situation is, one who will protect your secret, allow you to live your lifestyle, but be by your side at public functions. Outrageous, you say? I could give you a few examples of men who have specifically done that. What Jason did was DISHONEST. He's not the victim; Carolyn Moos is!

""Carolyn Moos, Jason Collins’ longtime girlfriend, said Tuesday that she never suspected the man she spent the better part of a decade with was gay — even when he called off their engagement in 2009.

“It’s not easy to understand. I had dreams of having children and having a husband, and I still have those dreams,” Moos told the Daily News, breaking her silence about Collins, the first active, openly gay athlete in American team sports to come out of the closet.

“Anger was a definite emotion that I had to work through,” she said, reflecting on how their relationship ended. “I think it would only be human to be angry about diminished dreams. Otherwise, I would think that you’re robotic.”"

Sorry, but Carolyn's chances of finding a husband, of having children are greatly diminished. Getting pregnant gets infinitely more difficult as women approach 40, and significantly more dangerous. Were she to meet someone right now, perhaps she has 1 or 2 children...if she manages to get pregnant. Or maybe she goes the IVF route if she has problems with fertility. In any case, Collins should be criticized for his actions and dishonesty with Ms. Moos.

So many things wrong with this, but explains a lot about you.

what is wrong.
there will always be people killing themself

ALWAYS, why is it my fault.

if someone is "addicted" to alcohol it is a disease.
if someone cant control his sexual promiscuity it is a disease.
always blaming someone else except the person responsible.

gun control lets blame the guns
alcohol, i cant help it i'm an addict.
adultery, sorry i am a sexaddict it's a disease.
grow a pair and take responsiblity for your actions.

am i holding a gun to people heads en force them to commit suicide.

no they are QUITTERS, they quit on live and give up. simple as that.
you call it depression they have a disease.
or they got bullied or whatever.

Bullying a gay and very emotional teenager to the point where they commit suicide is the fault of whoever is leading the charge. They are not quitting and that is a terrible way to put it and think of it.

I could go on but there is no point arguing with person who makes statements like you do that are so definitive. Everything revolves around you and what your beliefs are, never looking at the other points of view. Hopefully you never have to deal with people close to you committing suicide and you can go on believing what you want and being rude and insensitive.

You can fight back.
dont think i did not get bullied.
i have very pointy ears, with very small attached earlobes(almost no ear, could not get a piercing if i wanted to). i heard all jokes about it. got bullied for it. since the first time in a schoolbus at age 4
for weeks. every single day i did not let it bother me. there where some pretty hurtfull stuff.
did i quit no, instead of hanging on to his words i enjoyed live every single moment of it. cus i was healthy had people who loved me.
until one day he took it a step to far and pulled my ears. i kicked his *** all over the bus. back in those days kicking someones *** was not frowned upon like now a days.
well that was the last time all through kindergarten.

fighting back is the thing to do, show them if they cross the line there are consequences, simple as that.
sadly/regrettably even though i had bullying experience i was also on the other end of it.

i dont see why you have to go blame someone else for suicide except the perpetrator of sad suicide.
it's like telling me it aint the rapist fault he raped cus he was abused as a child.
so please explain what is wrong with my original post

EDIT: dont ever forgot evolution: survival of the FITTEST.
so yeah commit suicide you are a quitter and week, it don't matter what your reason is

Suicide is a sad fact of life. That being said, there are definitely absolute truths as well as cause and effects. Sometimes the cause and effects are the result of absolute truths. All of us reap what we sow. That's an absolute truth. Some conditions are caused by birth defects and that is sad. But as dutch pointed out much of what we reap is the result of bad or poor decisions made in life by us or even our parents. We just feel the need for people to own up to that fact and the consequences it brings.

also i am kinda sick that they are making this big of a deal of the collins crap.
why should his sexuality be flaunted in his face.

do i flaunt my deviant sexual preferences in your face?

Nice story, good for you, you clearly were not in the same situation as people who committed suicide nor the same state of mind nor the same support around you.

sp yput saying everyone is a quitter and gets to commit suicide.

the only reason i and other people dont get to commit suicide is cus we where not in their situation.

what a hogwash baloney crap reasoning.

why are the guys who do the deed not responsible.

ooh wait we live in a age where responsibility is not on the perpetrator anymore.

...I could go on but there is no point arguing with person who makes statements like you do ...

fortunately for those of us who don't share the views of Dutch and CJ, most of our society is not as dogmatic as they are and is able to take a more nuanced look at these issues

The interesting thing here is that Karl is a republican. More and more conservatives are switching over in support of gay rights. They see how ridiculous, and out of the times they were.

Being a Republican is not being a "conservative". Being a rich dude who votes with the big money isn't being a "liberal" either.

Partisanship has little to do with principle. One Brow and George Bush ride in the same boat probably for the same reason. It's where their money comes from. Being totally vested in "progress" and paid for either pretending to be principled is what little people do sometimes. Being filthy rich and pretending to be OK with elite management of a city, state, nation or "The World" is pretty cool but has little to do with believing anything.

Being a chump who is on the prowl for any kind of remote put-down you can stick to "conservatives" is just stupid.

My money comes from an IT job and teaching math part-time, neither of which requires any commitment to progressive values.
