Hayward getting extension???

Batum has like $33 million coming over the next three seasons. Based on his production and league average PER that's probably $9-10 million too high total in my estimation. But it's debatable.

DeRozan sucks. David Lee actually makes the Warriors worse when he's on the court. Randolph is debatable but I think he's being paid as if he's a perennial ALL-NBA contender when he's actually simply a borderline-allstar. Gallinari is a purported shooting specialist that shoots 42% from the field. Bosh gets judged as "fair" because he's a package deal with the best contract in the NBA and contributed to winning two championships. Miami got what they paid for. My opinion of Pekovich is probably higher than average.

Ok I just want to address DeRozan as others kind of matter of taste or preference( to me Bosh is not worth that money just because he is soft and does not do anything well to justify such a big contract, yes he helped to win those rings riding coattails of Wade and LBJ but replace him with any 10mil making PF and they win it too, and maybe even in shorter series.).
DeMar is top 10 in all NBA at getting to the line, excellent mid range shooter and post up player for SG and finisher at the rim. Not a good 3 point shooter but at least he is not chucking them. Decent passer and decent defender. For 10mil a year athletic SG with tons of upside I think it would be crazy to rate his deal as bad - it is very good deal and will look even better after couple years. 18.1pts, 3.9reb...not sure why he sucks in your opinion, I can easily see him averaging 20pts per game this season.

He's deceptively athletic.

It's not code.

He said he's white.

I'm not certain where you're getting that information. I actually show him as averaging the same number of Free throws per game as Pekovic.

If this is on a FTA/shot basis I'm not totally certain how valuable that metric is, but I suspect he's below some guys like Corey Maggette for whom that is essentially their primary NBA skill.

If it's on a pure FT made basis then I guess it's accurate, but raw counting numbers aren't particularly meaningful.

I think he's a volume scorer with poor shot selection and limited range. I saw that he was one of the players that took the most jumpshots in the league (he was in the top 20%) but was in the bottom quartile of the league on efficiency for those shots. That's not the profile of a guy I want making $10 million a year. I don't want Monta Ellis at those numbers either and he's posted 20+ppg before.

Maybe I'm being harsh about his handles. Sounds like I'm in the minority on this. That's good for us if true.

He used to play PG until he grew an ton over a year. That's one of the things I think is underrated about his game. In fact, I think he could play point forward a la Nemanja Bjelica.

I havent gone back and read this whole thread, but what's your position Kicky, do you think the kid is getting overpaid?

I think I'm going to be unhappy with pretty much any number over $8-9 million averaged per year. He might outperform those numbers in time but I don't think he's earned a check that large yet and if we get into the $11-12 million range then that's something we could have gotten in restricted free agency anyway.

How about the 'everybody is happy' extension:

4 yr/ 44 mil frontloaded.

12.5
11.5
10.5
9.5

I'd like something like that, more money upfront when we don't need it, less money as we start to need to sign other guys, FA's, etc.

Hard to argue with this position.

I guess this is the front office thinking he's going to improve and if they don't buy him now, he will be bought later at a higher price.
